There can be bad reactons to everything in medicine! No procedure is exempt. So the issue for me becomes: do the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks? Generally we proceed because we think so.
I hope he has other people there with him who can explain to the board that Lyme patients do benefit from IV treatment! And as such, he and patients have every right to opt for such treatment.

I have been forwarded the following email concerning Dr. C's hearing on Friday. Please keep him in your prayers!
Dear Patients and Friends of Lyme Patients,
Dr. Charles Crist will have a hearing tomorrow, Friday, July 13, before the Missouri medical board.
A patient had a bad reaction to an IV, and a doctor (not the patient) filed a complaint. Now he is at risk of losing his license for treating chronic Lyme disease and Masters' disease.
Dr. Crist is asking for prayers. His hearing will be at 12:30 in the afternoon. We should concentrate our prayers at that time
Pray that this Friday the thirteenth will be a lucky day for Dr. Crist and Lyme disease patients.
Dr. Crist is one of the best Lyme disease and tickborne illness specialists in the central states. If he loses his license, we will all suffer.
Other doctors in Missouri will be reluctant to treat Lyme disease with antibiotics. Missouri Lyme doctors are treating thousands of patients who have Lyme and Masters' disease who come from all over Missouri and many other states, and even some foreign countries.
If these doctors stop treating Lyme, the patients will have to find doctors elsewhere, which will increase the time people have to wait for an appointment with the Lyme specialists in other states.
Please pray for Dr. Crist and for Lyme patients everywhere.
Also, remember to pray for Dr. Charles Ray Jones. He had 9 hearings before his state medical review board in Connecticut. His hearings are over, but the medical board has not come to a decision yet.
Kathy White, Secretary Lyme Association of Greater Kansas City
