I've been taking Malarone for 6 months, last year I was on Mepron for 6 months, both with Zith and Biaxin.

Better results with the Malarone, but I seem to be sliding back, symptoms creeping back.

Has anyone had this experience? Also how long is too long on the Malarone, can you buld up a resistance?
Any help would be appreciated.
Nancyb

My experience with Babs tx which for me was mepron Zith & Artemisia was that I backslid a few times and it was not the cyclic cycle of Lyme but this long drawn out plateaus and dips and feeling like I had lost all gains over & over until finally one plateau didn't go away AT LONG LAST!!!!!!!!! (Was on Mepron 2 years!!)
But has been 6+ years since with no resurgence of symptoms whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Nancy

I have been on Malarone since April 24th., so little over two months. I am only on 1 a day along with 250 of Zithro. What are you on?

When I first started it did clear up some of my symptoms- feeling like I could not breath, short

of breath, brain frog. It is has been really up and down these two months. Some days I feel

really good, and think I am getting better, then the next day I feel bad again. Sometimes it is hard to tell what symptoms go w/ what. I still

get night sweats and hot flashes which is babs. I do not know about the bugs getting resistant

to the Malarone. I am wondering if me being on 1 day is making them resistant, maybe a higer dose would be better. By taking the Zithro w/ the Malarone is supposed to help w/ this, but who knows?

Thank you for posting this. I began treatment after finding a tick and seeing a Lyme rash, so I definitely had Lyme. After treating it for a while, my LLMD figured out that I was still demonstrating symptoms and they looked like babs, so he started me on Malarone and Biaxin. I had a nasty herx -- I'd never had that before -- and then I started to see major improvement. I have felt great for 2 months. Now I'm feeling some symptoms creep back esp the headache/neckaches. I was very very anxious. But hearing that others have had a similar experience makes me feel so much better. My next apptmt is next week, so hopefully my LLMD will have something to say about all this....

I'm going to ask him about artemesia or whatever it's called.

Did you try throwing septra into the mix. I really believe taking this meds along with mepron and biaxon has really kicked the babs.

I take malarone for babs.

Four a day. I did this initially for 3 months to have 10 wonderful days

Without babesia symptoms only to have them return.

I am on my second go around with malarone (4 x a day) and biaxin this time.

I wasn't really having night sweats with babs symptoms this time, just waking up damp.

I've been on malarone 8 days now and have woken up soaking wet every night.

I asked my LLMD about art. He would rather stay the course with malarone for 3-4 months.

If I didn't kick the babs this time, I could do art.

He doesn't want me doing art and malarone at the same time.

Hang in there. From what have learned from the board,

Babesia can take a long time to get rid of....dependent upon length of illness and degree of infection.

Hugs,

Geneal
