Who here has had food allergies and lymes?

I feel like I am going to die after I eat, I mean absolutely die, especially after eating any type of processed foods.

Flushing headaches rapid heart beat, feels like my body is eating itself alive.

Never had any problems beofre what I suspect is lymes and still haven't been properly diagnosed so I am going to see an gastro.

I feel hypo all the time but when I check my blood sugar with a meter it's perfect spot on.

In addition to the food allergies I have a lot of kideny pain and prostatitis-

but can't get a diagnosis. liver enzymes are up too and vitamin d levels are low.

I get extremely bloated in my abdomen and my body retains a lot of water most days.

I am on every supplement known to man for vit C to natural mulit vits to pro biotics to digestive enzymes to everything and still no releif.

I am going to go to a gastro this week and a holistic MD later this month to see if he can test me for lymes with the florida test and possibly get some closure and treatment to this devastating illness

I could have written your post here. Please read this entire post! I have TONS of food allergies or intolerances. Interestingly enough, the only one I actually tested positive for was eggs. Were you tested yet?

I have this theory that I probably do not have all that many blood-proven food allergies - but rather that, when I eat certain foods, the food gets my critters moving - either that or I'm toxic and can't digest anything further. I even bought a glucometer because I knew something was happening in my mouth and spine every time I would eat a meal. And like yours, it was fine and I thought I was nuts.

By the way, I had A and D deficiencies. I'll bet you too are deficient in ALL fat soluble vitamins - not just D. I also had elevated liver enzymes after only one week of infusions - so bad that they had to stop infusions. Do you have coinfections like babesia? Babesia reproduces in your liver. I'm still negative for babs - I requested a malaria test - who knows which I have, honestly.

Have you done a liver cleanse - Hulda Clark's? I shot gallstones out and my doc never believed me, but my liver enzymes came down. Stay away from ALL toxins - cologne, fabric softener, pollution, etc... until you get those enzymes down.

If your allergies are as extreme as mine are - and you sure sound that way - eliminate these right off the bat: dairy, eggs, red meat, all grains, soy, corn, seeds, all processed foods, all sugary foods. But this is only the beginning.

I want to tell you which foods I can tolerate since I spent a small fortune trying to 'perfect' the I-am-not-cured-of-Lyme-but-don't-want-to-feel-pain-after-I-eat diet - if you are desperate enough, I guess you will try it:

organic romaine lettuce, canned asparagus spears (only other ingredient - salt), fresh tomato, sea salt (Real Salt), organic grapeseed oil (as a dressing), organic peanut butter (peanuts and salt), 100% grapefruit juice, Welch's 100% grape juice, cod liver oil (I can't eat fish proteins - just oils) - sometimes sesame tahini (this one is still iffy), sometimes spirulina.

Maybe you could eat these foods for like 3 days and see if it takes your pain away. Like I said, I ran out and bought so many different foods at the advice of everybody - and even healthy foods made me sick. Rapid heartbeat, pain, anxiety, urinary frequency, urge, burning - most of this was food allergies - not Lyme. Milk, eggs, and chocolate were literal nightmares for me - severe headaches. But everything except the foods listed produce some horrific symptom.

And I'd be curious how you do on these foods simply because I'm one of the worst on here with food allergies - that list above is what I eat pretty much every day, every meal. I'd complain, but seriously, it has helped to deter my pain and flush my liver, so if I can only eat a handful of foods and not have my colon falling out or my head exploding or my heart pounding - I'm fine with it.

It also might help to consider iron and/or copper toxicity. I know I get near fatal reactions to high copper foods - like chocolate and mushrooms. I get sick on high iron foods, too. If you look at the foods I'm okay with and am recommending for you, I wonder if we are iron or copper toxic?

Please go easy on those herbs, too - it's possible you overloaded your liver with die-off. Also, many herbs are high in iron and copper, too. I would back off on the herbs a bit, try just the whole foods I mentioned, and maybe try to give your system a break some. I overdid it in the beginning like you appear to be doing.

Finally, how much exposure do you get from electromagnetic fields? Cell phones/towers? Cordless phones? My suspicions of iron or copper toxicity kind of fall into play here. But if I had to recommend one book that would put Lyme into perspective for you, it would be 'Cross Currents' by Robert Becker. All Lymies should read this book - cell phones are behind the surge in Lyme.

Google 'The Biggest Biological Experiment Ever'. Or it may be 'The Largest Biological Experiment Ever'? One of the two. Cell phones are causing these bugs to cross the blood-brain barrier, and absolutely NOTHING is being done. Cell phones also mess with the body's ability to produce enzymes - another reason for food allergies.

No enzymes to break it down? Allergic reaction. Read up on this because very few docs are up on this info. And unless you read about the scientific evidence that exists concerning electromagnetic fields and their health effects, you will never take my word for it.

I almost forgot - I can only handle calcium ascorbate crystals as far as supplements go. All other supplements make me sick. I'll bet you are like me this way.

Also, I tried buying non-organic grapeseed oil in a plastic bottle - I got very sick on it. Only buy the organic bottled kind. It's worth paying double the price - trust me.

PM me if you need to. I just don't want you to kill yourself like I almost did trying to get rid of this. Some of us are more toxic than others. Hope I helped.

By the way, asparagus will make your urine smell funny, but I'll bet you feel better. Lyme gives of ammonia, and asparagus carries it out of your body.

This is the one food that, along with eliminating food allergens, helps the kidney and bladder discomfort every time. Good luck!

You can get a food allergy test via metametrix labs

http://www.metametrix.com/content/Home

they send you a nice report with your allergies and a rotation diet.
You also need to take glutamine and stop leaky gut.
Food allergies are common in Lyme, and any time the immune system is weakened. Just wanted to add, lots of drugs can cause protein in the urine too.

Hope that helps you some!

I was allergic to ALL foods and supplements because of lyme and possibly babesia.

Antibiotics CURED me of this.
Minocycline was very good, and then did babesia treatment, which was clindamycin and quinine then back to minocycline.

I can now eat anything, and do not react.
It took 6 months. I did the minocycline and within 10 days of this I was able to eat a little better.

I was eatting 2 tbsp's of food a day for about 10 days, because that is how sick I was from food, I had the throat swell up, and now am ok.

I dont take supps as I find they make me worse, I take a 500mgs of vitamin C, and some yogurt and probiotics.

I would like to go back to the ND to get some supps but want them vega tested, I dont do well with all supps, have to be the right ones.

When my lyme was active 11 years ago I had the same problems, I ate and everything hurt my gut!

Then when my Lyme come out of remission again 5 years ago, the food problem came with it....and I still have it 5 years running.

I hate to eat. If it wasn't for the hypoglycemia, I wouldn't eat all day. I have constant nausia and then pain after eating. I've cut out all sodas, sugars, bleached wheat products, soy, and most dairy. So there isn't much to eat anyhow. I can't say it help me much. But I don't like to eat anyhow...so why not.

My point is, when my Lyme wasn't active I was fine. When it is active, I'm in agony and nothing has helped. Of course, I'm not on ABX right now and I'm sure that would help with the Lyme and in turn help with the food problem.

Test for allergies, if nothing comes back...I'd say it's the lyme.

Good Luck!

trish - I'll bet that is my problem - I've yet to be put on any of the 'cyclines'.

I was on minocycline in my 20's for acne and it worked well.

I'm 42 now though, and I even asked him for it at my last visit. He wouldn't put me on it, and I want it.

Many people who have LD are gluten intolerant. You can be gluten intolerant and it will not show up in testing.

My Tibetan doctor said not to eat gluten or starch because starch is not good for LD. Brown rice and brown rice noodles he said are okay to eat. Many forms of starch like spuds and white rice turn to sugar in your digestive track - the keets get happy when you eat sugar.
