I believe the lyme and other co-infections cause palpitation, murmurs, and heart blocks.
Currently I take all my abx along with propanol to control my heart symptoms. My cardiologist who is somewhat lyme educated is monitoring every 3 months and watching my EKG.
Do you have symptoms?

My son has episodes of a pounding heart, and he has chest pains at other times. He contracted Lyme disease last fall.
The pounding heart may occur when he's sitting still, or when he is doing light exercise. They are not stress induced, but they cause stress.
The cardiologist put him on a 24 Holter monitor, did a stress test, an EKG, and an echocardiogram. All parameters were normal.
He said my son's symptoms are due to being a teen...and are not from Lyme.
I told him he never had any of these problems before he got Lyme...and he's been a teen for a while. GRRRR This is not normal.
My son has an appointment with a LLMD on Monday. I'm anxious to see what the LLMD says about these symptoms.
I have palpitations...a couple a day. They aren't always related to stress.
I wonder if my son's symptoms warrant a tilt table test? He nearly passes out when he stands up...his visual field turns black. This happens fairly frequently.

I had the same problems. Only my resting heart rate was 170. Sometimes it would drop to 120 but as soon as I stood up it would zoom up. It was so bad when one of my docs took it - he called an ambulance. To control the symptom I had to go on beta blockers for a little over a year? You could also ask about Lorezapam (they both are really addicting)-because that seems to help with autonomic problems.
I had a really hard time with the beta blockers- I was always tired and they made me depressed.

Dear HSHBMOM, Savebabe sounds like she is seeing a llcardiolagist and they will give you much better advice than a cardiolagist that sounds like he doesn't even believe in lyme . I can tell you that I like, your son, get major palps, usually at rest, have worn monitors for 24,48hrs, and 30 days to have them tell me they were normal. Yeah right!tilt table also normal. stress tests etc.,etc. Glad to hear you've got upcoming llmd apt!!! Ask him.

Lyme and babesia are the two most common culprits for heart abnormalities. Lyme can induce paricarditis. Babesia can often send the heart racing or drop it way down. Babs can affect the portion of the brain that causes these fluctuations.
If your son exhibits sweats/chills and labored breathing I'd strongly suspect babs along with lyme.
Lyme can reside along the nerve that runs through the chest and cause sharp stabbing pains. Your son's symptoms are common for lyme and babs. They should clear once he gets into proper treatment.
Definitely, find a new cardiologist. In this day and age for a cardiologist to say lyme doesn't cause these problems or refuses to believe he even has lyme is insane.
My son developed leg pain 3 years ago that the doc racked up to "growing pains". Three years later and we're still treating him off and on for lyme and babs.
