I just don't get it...Seems to me I'm the one starving, [lick]

Seriously, it doesn't make any sense to me. (or my choc, pepsi & bread)

Anybody know why we have to starve em when we're gonna kill em anyway? Cuz I don't really care if they are hungry when they die!

Does it really make much of a difference?

Thanks!

My guess is probably because we never kill 100% of every yeast cell...

So if you kill most of them and feel better, then eating chocolate and sugar will only super encourage the rest of them to multiply rapidly! You have to starve the rest to ensure that they do not rebound.

Hey Gardenlymer. I think this is a really good question. One that doesn't have a simple answer.

I think of the yeasties sitting around fat and happy feasting on sugar and then being easy to kill off. If they're starving, aren't they going to be harder to kill? On their last legs so to speak?

Personally, I don't think yeast is that big of a problem for EVERYONE; on the other hand a diet of steady junk food isn't good for even healthy people.

Isn't body balance the most important thing?

I think you have to starve them to kill them. Take my word for it, I have been off of antibiotics for over a year. Lyme gone for most part - still have a yeast problem!!! I take phytostan and theralac. Now I am trying oil of oregano - anyone know how much of that I can take per day? I am taking 3 drops under my tongue like 3 Xs per day - is that okay?

My problem is not junk food - WINE! My Lyme doc said no sweets, wine okay - she was wrong! After I have some wine the next morning I have horrible thrush all over again. It's like I am fighting an uphill battle. So yes I would say you have to starve them! I'm done with wine.

You got it!!

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

Candida diet and elimination:

http://www.wholeapproach.com/diet/
Lyme symptoms list compared with yeast symptoms

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

It sucks but it is true.

Im battling yeast even though I dont have the usual symptoms of gas and bloating. I do however have contipation and cant tollerate sugars and starches at all.

If I cheat I get stabbing burning pains in my feet, weakness depression, increased vertigo/allergies muscle pain, burning sensations in my muscles, brain fog itching etc.......

Whats interesting is that if my diet is PERFECT and I take some anti-fungals I get the same symptoms. So the joke is on me.

Ill say it again, it sucks. You dont wanna end up like me living off eggs and onions. Believe me!

3 more days of abx then I get serious about killing the yeast (though I have been keeping to the diet, taking some probiotics, and some nystatin). My question is this, I see a lot of people taking Theralac. What is so special about it that makes it worth the price? I had always heard the best probiotics were the ones that had to be refrigerated. Right now I'm taking Uddo's choice. Any opinions/thoughts? [bow]
