a friend's chronic illness all began with a flu shot. she was in her early 20s and healthy. maybe it was the straw that broke the camel's back, but either way, it triggered a life threatening autoimmune illness. her life became a living hell after that shot and she is still trying to get well years later.
and the toxic crap they put in vaccines is enough reason to run the other way.

Since I am on Valcyte, I need to be really careful with other outside infections,
Other than the several I already have.
I didn't get one last year as per LLMD, but was planning
On asking him later this month if valcyte changes the possible recommendation and/or outcome.
Gosh, if the flu hits me like the stomach virus did, they might as well admit me to the hospital.

A trusted person, scientist/researcher who ran a test of the first batch on the flu vaccine of a couple of years ago found 26 "live" viruses in that vaccine. He/she said "your chances of getting the flu are l in 5000. Your chances of dying from the flu vaccine are about 10 in 100". "There are a lot of things in the vaccines". He/she said "stay away from flu vaccines. They are bad news.
He/she continued to tell that certain babies should never be given a vaccination. I do not want to repeat it here, it hits too close to home. Our second son, upon getting a vaccination at 10 in the morning was dead at 7 that night. That's when my world changed and when I became interested in what I am studying today.
I myself have never had a flu shot, but I hear from literally all of our friends and brothers in our age group that they get very ill, ill for weeks following it.
Why do that????????//
Take care.

Actually, the valcyte only targets CMV, maybe HHV-6 and EB a little.
Just lowers your resistence to every other bug out there.
Gigi,
I am speechless after reading your post. My heart and prayers to you.
My son, who is 4, was born with a hole in his heart (VSD).
They insist he get a flu shot every year as he is a high risk baby.
He also has Lyme-probably congenital.
He had the flu shot last year, prior to being diagnosed.
When my daughter came down with bacaterial pneumonia,
He caught it, but was no way near as ill as she was.
I assumed it was the flu shot.
Now I need to really re-think this. Especially with the Lyme.
I will talk to my LLMD at great length about it.
Thank you for sharing. God Bless.

No. The years recently when I have gotten a flu shot, I not only feel immediately sick for a week or more afterwards, I have always gotten more colds and flues those years. The years that I have NOT had the flu shot are when I have enjoyed the best health.
So experience has taught me NOT to get the flu shot. It never seemed to help, it always seems those vaccines, which I have done frequently for the past 10 years, have made my health worse....

THERE IS CLEAR EVIDENCE OF THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS SUCH AS AUTISM AND ALZTHIMIERS (SP)AND MERCURY IN THE VACCINES.
DO NOT TAKE THE FLU SHOTS, DO NOT GIVE YOUR KIDS VACCINESS WHICH CONTAIN THIMERSAL (MERCURY) OR ALUMINUM, THESE ARE NEURO POISONS...
WHY DO PEOPLE WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR WHEN CLEANING UP A SPILL OF A THERMOMETOR? AND THEN INJECT THIS STUFF IN OUR BODIES....
GOOGLE AUTISM AND THIMERSAL....YOU WILL SEE THE EVIDENCE.
READ "EVIDENCE OF HARM" BY DAVID KIRBY (NY TIMES REPORTOR) AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT THIMERASAL HAS DONE TO THE KIDS.

there are many other alternatives to deealing with flu season besides the flu shot.
these include herbs and vitamins that boost the immune system and help one fight viruses and homeopathics.
Any good natural foods store or pharmacy can help you avoid the flu and the vaccine.
while the vaccine is very profitable to the manufactures, there is no real proof that it keeps people well.
Hand washing is said to be just as effective as the flu shot. I'll wash my hands thank you!

My son was born with tracheamalasia (soft spot on the esophagus - and cannot expel sputum when has a cold - turns to pnemonia almost immediately)
He has had a few flu shots - and one year was really bad and the next was not bad at all - we stayed out of the hospital.
I never knew that there was such a controversy regarding the flu shot....
Pediatrician says that she wants all of us to get one due to HIS illness...but now I wonder about daughter with LD???
Makes me wonder if we should do more natural remedies to ward off the flu this year but fear that my little guy (6) will end up in the hosp. again.
I really think that we already put enough crap in our bodies the way it is.
Again - Great Subject - Now more research!
Thanks all for opinions and comments.

Officials say drug caused Nigeria polio By MARIA CHENG, AP Medical Writer 1 hour, 29 minutes ago
LONDON - A polio outbreak in Nigeria was caused by the vaccine designed to stop it, international health officials say, leaving at least 69 children paralyzed.
It is a frightening paradox in a part of the world that already distrusts western vaccines, making it even tougher to stamp out age-old diseases.
The outbreak was caused by the live polio virus that is used in vaccines given orally -- the preferred method in developing countries because it is cheaper and doesn't require medical training to dispense.
"This vaccine is the most effective tool we have against the virus, but it's like fighting fire with fire," said Olen Kew, a virologist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC and the World Health Organization announced the cause of the polio outbreak last week, even though they knew about it last year.
Outbreaks caused by the oral vaccine's live virus have happened before. But the continuing Nigerian outbreak is the biggest ever caused by the vaccine. It also follows a nearly yearlong boycott of the vaccine in Africa's most populous country because of unfounded fears the vaccine was a Western plot to sterilize Muslims.
Officials now worry that the latest vaccine-caused Nigerian outbreak could trigger another vaccine scare.
Experts say such outbreaks only happen when too few children are vaccinated. In northern Nigeria, only about 39 percent of children are fully protected against polio.
The oral polio vaccine contains a weakened version of polio virus. Children who have been vaccinated excrete the virus, and in unsanitary conditions it can end up in the water supply, spreading to unvaccinated children.
In rare instances, as the virus passes through unimmunized children, it can mutate into a form that is dangerous enough to spark new outbreaks.
In 2001, officials reported that 22 children were paralyzed from polio in the Dominican Republic and Haiti in this way. Subsequent vaccine-caused polio outbreaks have occurred in the Philippines, Madagascar, China and Indonesia.
In the West, the polio vaccine is given as a shot and uses an inactivated virus, but that method is more expensive and requires training.
In Nigeria, the outbreak comes "in the wake of all the other problems they've had in," said Dr. Donald A. Henderson, who led WHO's smallpox eradication campaign in the 1970s.
In 2003, politicians in northern Nigeria canceled vaccination campaigns for nearly a year, claiming the vaccine was a Western plot to sterilize Muslims. That led to an explosion of polio, and the virus jumped to about two dozen countries.
Now, health officials' decision to keep quiet about the cause of the outbreak for so long may look suspicious.
Dr. David Heymann, WHO's top polio official, said that because the organization considered the outbreak to be a problem for scientists and not something that would change global vaccination practices, they thought it was was unnecessary to immediately share publicly.
CDC's Kew added: "The people who are against immunization may seize on anything that could strengthen their position, even if it's scientifically untenable."
Rumors are still rife among Nigerians that the vaccine is unsafe, and several religious leaders continue to lecture on its dangers. Another mass vaccine boycott could lead to further polio spread, derailing long-standing eradication efforts for good.
Nigerian health officials contacted by The Associated Press declined to comment on the situation.
"Convincing the Nigerians to take even more of this vaccine will be a tough sell," said Dr. Samuel Katz, an infectious diseases specialist at Duke University and co-inventor of the measles vaccine.
More than 10 billion polio doses have been given to children worldwide, and the vaccine has been credited with cutting polio incidence by more than 99 percent since 1988. Far more children are paralyzed by the wild polio virus than the virus spread by the oral vaccine. But no vaccine is risk-free.
WHO said that changing the vaccination strategy is unnecessary. "It would be nice if we had a more stable oral polio vaccine, but that's not the way it is today," Heymann said. "We will continue working the way we have been working because we don't want children to be paralyzed anywhere."

If I weren't allergic to eggs, I'd absolutely get the flu shot. The last thing my immune system needs to stress it is another infection.
I had the flu a few years ago and it was horrific. I was allergy tested last year to see if I was definitely allergic, and unfortunately it was positive. I hope they make a non-egg based formulation SOON.

I have had only one flu shot in my life and that was 9 months after I got lyme symptoms, but was still undiagnosed. I was actually feeling a lot better.
Just a short time after the flu shot I got myoclonus so bad I would fall down and I went downhill from there. I believe the flu shot really triggered the lyme to come out full force.

No on the flu shots for me.
If you have Epstien Barr as one of your co-infections, then before getting a flue shot, please check with your doctor first or whoever is giving the shots.
They used to have a book available at all flu shot stations that listed the conditions for which flu shots were contraindicated, and EBV was one of them. The RN poised to give me my shot was a bit shocked to find this information in her little book. She had no clue about it.

I definitely plan on gettng the flu shot THIS year. I didn't last year for the first time since I lost my colon in 94, but I did get the pneumonia shot last year.
I usually get sick for a few days with the flu shot, but not as sick as I used to be from November to May without the flu shot.
I also had polio too, when I was six years old, and it was not a fun year, but at least I survived it. But its effects have been with me all my life.
Some of you because of allergies, and other reasons, maybe can't get it, but for some it is lifesaving. No fun feeling like you are just about to die, week after week, month after month.

BULL!
Would you rather die from Tetanus?
I have had MANY tetanus shots, and am still alive and kicking. I get them a lot more than once every ten years, as I have stepped on old nails and/or cut by old metal on the ground, etc..

Just another persons opinion, but hear me out.
I thought I had lyme and that is why I still follow this site.
In the end, we find out I have the Miller Fisher variant of Guillan Barre syndrome due to THE FLU SHOT. Here I am almost nine months later, I can't move the one side of my face - the other side is at 75% and it looks like that's about all the improvement I'll have, I have constant ringing in both ears, I have intermittent double vision and my life came to a screeching halt.
Yes, I'd rather get the flu for six weeks and have my natural immune system do it's own job.
As far as the tetanus shot - tetanus is so very rare that you don't need a tetanus shot. The symptoms are so clear cut, they would know immediately what you had and give you a counteracting shot at the E.R. Read up on tetanus (not on government and CDC websites and you will be surprised.)
Before I knew any of this, all my kids were vaccinated. They come out with new vaccines - I'm like "hey, give it to me, the more the better and I won't be sick or have a fatal illness" -------NOT ANY MORE. I had no idea this would happen to me and no advertisement by government or health agencies warn you of this.

IF you can get by with the flu for ONLY 6 weeks, it might be worth it to try and survive it. But how about if you have it ALMOST steady from Late October to late May or even in June? You want to die. You don't think you can take another day of it, but you go on, keep plugging along.
NOT for me. I am way too susceptable to the flu and cold viruses. The fewer I have of those I like it, just like the less Lyme symptoms I have the better. THAT is why I am on herbs. Otherwise I could quit them and be sick all the time like so many who are on abx.
I PREFER to "feel good" as much as possible in whatever days I have left on this earth.

Nope, no flu shots here. Lots of hand washing, vitamins, lysol, etc. Plus, I make it a point to stay away from sick people; even if it means canceling plans.
If I do come in contact w/ someone who is hacking away in my direction - I do this simple little thing that I read about by a healer that was in contact w/ many sick people daily, and managed to stay healthy all his life dispite it:
As soon as your contact w/ that ill person is over - dip both ends of a q-tip in rubbing alcahol - then swab inside of nose w/ 1 end per nostril. (I usually swirl the wet q-tip around the edge of the bottle so it is wet but not dripping w/ alcahol)...
Throw away, and of course wash your hands. Stings alittle - and dries out the nasal cavity alittle; but I have done it w/ success for several yrs now. His theory was most contagious flu's/colds enter thru the nose - where they are initially caught by the hairs in your nose. Clean the nasal cavity as soon as possible after contact and the germs never get into the body thru breathing.
Now, I don't think this would be a good option for someone who is say, a school nurse, where they might be in contact w/ sick kid after sick kid all day long. I would imagine it would be too drying to the nose to do it repeatedly all day long. But for the majority of us who say, go to wal-mart & someone near u in line is sneezing & coughing in your direction...or the person next to you at an event is obviously sick - then this method works really well.
Plus, as parents, it's our obligation to keep our sick child home from school! Many don't & then they wonder why the whole school is soon sick.....ERRRRGG

thanks for the tip. although not as convenient to do on the go, another way to cleanse the nasal cavity and sinuses (that won't dry you out) is using a neti pot. I use warm & filtered water, saline/sea salt, xylitol and grapefruit seed extract. It helps with both allergies and preventing colds, viruses, etc. you can also add antiviral/ antibacterial herbal extracts, zinc, etc.
