I started on garlic for yeast (alimax)and feel horrible. Can yeast die-off cause lyme like herx's? I've had a lot more dizziness, palpitations and fatigue.

Wish I could sort out this from bugs coming back, or a herx. (Although this started 3 days after I stopped zith, was still on bactrim)

Anyone have any yeast stories to tell?

I believe that you can have some herx-y feelings from a yeast die-off.

Also, perhaps the garlic is also hitting babs or other bugs? Garlic is an antimicrobial.

Feel better, and drink lots of lemon-water!

I have problems with all root veggies. Don't assume it's a herx. I can't even eat carrots.

hi shoney

garlic is supposed to be anti-bacterial and hit the yeast thing too.It is posible that you are herxing. I do herx from a yeast die off, really can be quite bad.

Here's a link on garlic:

www.gaiaresearch.co.za/garlic.html

Believe it or not garlic does have some drug interactions. You might want to call your doc & let him know how your feeling.

Here's a link. You can type in garlic in the search box & it does list a few interactions

Scroll down to the part in purple that says"when should I be careful taking it"... click on that :

www.drugdigest.com

Hope you can feel better soon [group hug]
Dana

ps: just want to add be careful not to take it on an empty stomach. I have burned my stomach in the past doing this. Now I can only take the entri-coated ones.

OH YES!!!!

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

Candida diet and elimination:
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021412.html

http://www.wholeapproach.com/diet/

Lyme symptoms list compared with yeast symptoms
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021202.html

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals] lyme disease in Europe is http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EuroLyme/

Alimax can be effective not only on yeast but also the infections. Allicidin is also great for the infections and will also kick the yeast.

Never had it from garlic or oil of oregano.

I have had it from caprylic acid (coconut), GSE and nystatin. SO yes it SUCKS>

My pain goes up 500% and I get very stiff with insomnia. My brain goes from feeling dead and foggy to racing with terrible muddied thoughts of death and dying and guilt. I become very weak and have to lay down for about 3 hours.

This is after about 5 drops of GSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or 2 caps of Caprylic acid.

Tell me what the hell it is if it isint die off.
Its not and allergy and its happened more then 10 times each. I usually clear and feel better then before but only for a very short time.

How can I better handle the herx? I want to start excercising in the morning. ALso I eat a ton of veggies, its excatlly what people say here about eating with candida. Veggies and meat. Nothing else. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE ALL I HAVE TO EAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And people who drink wine think they have problems paying their bills. Hooeeeyy

Yes to yeast die-off experience. I had my first terrible experience of a die-off from taking a caprylic acid pill for yeast treatment. I will never do that again! Curtailing the diet first seems like a great idea.

I have had palps and racing heart all along ...also have POTS. It was getting much better until I
stopped the zith
started the garlic.

Unfortunatley, I did both at the same time..so not sure what caused it.

But thanks everyone for your help...
didn't know yeast was so nasty.

Yeast is nasty!!!!!

I wish I knew how bad it was when I began treatment as I would have started on antifungals before anti-biotics.

I think my LLMD screwed up by giving me antibiotics first and then I had diarrhoea.

Then he gave me probiotics which I couldn't handle.

Now I know... The yeast was terrible.
