But how do vaccines work? Are they preventative for new infections or can the kill pre-existing parasites?

I'm leary of new drugs on the market. Too many are released too soon and we learn the downside only when some are hurt or die from the side effects.
I'll let you guys try it first.

thanks for posting this groovy---saw it in the paper today.
it is a vaccine not a drug---they did the trial in the part of Africa I lived in once upon a moon. It is a ture vacinne because they are putting parts of the malaria (dont ask me the details---i am not a chemist or doc) into the person via a shot. It is preventative, not treatment.
They did mention artemisinin in the article i read today.
Bill and Melinda Gates---Thank you! This will save many lives and needless suffering and has already. but was we know, they will not fund babesia treatment, especially here in the USA. Their money goes to third world countries and mostly malarial research. If we can eradicate malaria, maybe the'd be willing to fund babs treatment next???
It isnt clear to me the study will help in treatment (or prevention) of babs, but perhaps it will?

Vacines use a part of the disease to prompt your body to build its own immunity to the disease.
Homeopathy does the same thing and has no side effects.
