Hi.. I'm quite worried. I have been having this stiffness (mainly on the neck, shoulders and upper back) for 2-3 months already and its just getting worse. There is some mild pain in the neck too. No matter how I try to relax and do some exercises, it doesnt help. And somehow the neck feels very weak too, like it couldnt keep my head up. It always gets worse when I try to do something.
I searched the archives and found that many have had the same thing. I'm just wondering if this could be somehow dangerous... anyone else battling with this? Thanks..

Has your doctor looked at you regarding the stiffness?
Once, years ago, I had strep throat and had such extreme stiffness I couldn't turn my head to look to the side ... I think it would be good for your doctor to determine it's the Lyme making you stiff.

I've had the pain and severe stiffness in my head, neck, and shoulders - I had the worst herx in those areas, too, after minocycline.
I didn't have weakness so much, though I had something similar happen in my upper arms. Specifically, if I squeezed my hands to make a muscle, the muscle would bulge only for a second, and even though I was still squeezing, the muscle would collapse. Actually, this happened in my thighs, too, though more severely in my upper arms.
I'm guessing it has something to do with a loss of signal from your brain to your head and neck - another reason why I think electromagnetic pollution is involved.

Most likely infection or lactic acid buildup. I read recently that lactic acid is the body's way of containing and moving toxins along. I'm not sure if that is correct.
Massage is the remedy for my neck issues. I see her weekly. She gives me a discount for coming regular. She gets me out of pain when no one else can.
Right after starting aggressive abx treatment for H. Pylori, my neck went into horrific spasms. I can only assume the abx killed more than just HP. My massage therapist was out with an injury for several weeks right at this time. I made numerous visits to the chiropractor and even tried the D.O. without success.
Finally, the therapist came back to work. She is very good at finding the lactic acid bubbles. I sounded like bubble wrap as she popped the bubbles and was pretty flu-like feeling the rest of that day. I drank tons of water and by the next day, my neck was back to normal and never has gotten that bad again. I never miss my massage appointments.
