Since most of my posts before now had been about how UNwell I was feeling, I thought it only fair to post and say... it's finally working.

Symptoms that I have had, unremittingly, for over 20 years, including sleep difficulty, gut pain (especially pain right under left ribcage), brain fog, anxiety and depression are starting to lift.

The gut pain is the one that is really clinically significant for me. Anxiety and depression are so subjective, and can come and go, but this pain I always, always had, every minute of every day for 20 years. It's going almost gone now, and I still can hardly believe it.

Nothing ever got this pain to leave before. I am so psyched. I actually feel that I could eat some sugar and not suffer (but don't worry - I won't! I don't want to risk a set back). I can't describe it, but my gut just feels more "stable" somehow.

I had taken two years of orals and six months of IM bicillin, but they really didn't do much, and I thought that the abx route had failed me. I was wrong.

I am currently on IV Doxy, and I can't believe how well it is working. It was the right drug for me, I don't know why. I am betting that oral doxy would have worked just as well, but I don't know.

I started at 200 mg / day and herxed dreadfully and continually for about 10 weeks. The first week of IV Doxy, I literally spent doubled up on the floor from the increase in gut pain, and also left leg pain, but I knew it was hitting the right spot, so I just kept on going... and then... things just started getting better one day.

My current dose is 300 mg / day, and I'm moving up to 400 tomorrow. whoo hoo!

So hang in there. I had lost hope after 2 years of orals and thought that nothing would work. But it is working. Just had to find the right abx and then stick through the herxing. It's not fun, but it's worth it.

BB

I know what you mean about the gut pain .... I'm having the same result from treatment. For me it was treating the Bart.

I'm so glad to hear that you are getting better. Thanks for sharing. I've been on orals for over 1.5 years and am getting a bit discouraged. Really helps to hear your story.

Keep up the good work!!!

It is strange how sometimes we feel worse instead of better with the abx.

I, too, had an increase in symptoms with ketek.

but, then I started waking up NOT feeling like a truck ran me over.

Normal felt very abnormal.

But, since being off ketek, the symptoms are starting to creep back.

It is so nice when we have the windows of sunshine coming in or better health.

it gives us hope.

Glad to here things are looking good for you.

THANKS

Thanks Michelle soooooo much! You're always my personal Lyme cheerleader. I can't believe it's working. I would highly recommend Plaquenil by the way, seems to really help me!

And thanks so much Six, Terry, Azure, Trails, Selma, Vermont, Music, onthemend, Despin and CalLyme,

And thank you too, Too!

You've all been so helpful to me when I wanted to give up.

Just fyi, it really is still working... last night I fell asleep without sleep meds! and I slept until noon today! That hasn't happened in TWENTY years - usually I startle awake every few hours.

I literally can't believe this is happening.

Now I have to worry about relapsing (had to unjinx myself...).

Don't give up people.

BB
