Hello all-

Several weeks ago I started using an infrared sauna about 3 days a week for 45 minutes a day and it seemed to help with the detox (I'm on the babs meds). This past week, I used the infrared sauna 3 days in a row for 45 minutes a day and I feel horrible...very weak, flu-like, fatigued...What do you think is causing this horrible feeling? Does the sauna cause you to detox that much? I'm assuming it's too much to use it everyday...Any suggestions on what's going on and the optimum use? Thanks!

Bugg,

Are also on abx or other meds that can make you herx? Any kind of sauna can make medications more effective because the heat dilates your blood vessels and increases circulation.

Try cutting back to every other day and only 20 minutes or so and see if it gets easier. Also make sure that you're taking mineral supplements, eating enough salt, and drinking enough water.

Good luck!

The sauna can mobilize stored toxins, so it can make you feel worse. Take some chlorella to bind the toxins and drink lots of water.

45 minutes is a long time. Maybe 20 minutes, then work up to 30 minutes or longer once you can handle it.

I agree with all the others. Vitamin C may also help with detox symptoms in addition to chlorella.

And also, be sure you are wiping off all the sweat while you are in the sauna so you don't reabsorb it! If you can, take a warm shower afterwards to wash off the sweat and toxins, especially if you sweat heavily and are still hot long after you come out of the sauna. If you can't take a shower, at least wipe off all the sweat and wrap up in something absorbent and washable.

What temperature is your sauna set at? 45 minutes is a long time, some say too long, and max temperature is supposed to be 130. If you sweat heavily or soon after you get in the sauna, you can set the temperature lower and stay for less time.

Take care,
Nutmeg

I go to this Korean place & they have an uber-sauna which they say has far-infrared waves. They say NOT to take a shower or use soap after - at least for a few hours. They say to dry off in the heat lamps that they provide. Who knows???

Could be herxing from the sauna or the abx or a combination. Try taking it a little slower.

Also- be careful since some abx make you more light sensitive. Far infrared is a light wavelength & I got a sort of sunburn from using a far infrared sauna while on doxy.

I'm using my infrared sauna since two years but I'm still at 20 minutes every other day. I think 45 minutes would kill me!

Try to reduce the time.

Take care,

Gabrielle

See this thread. I had similar experience and I think thermotherapy (low heat but consistent) could be as important as abx therapy of Lyme disease.

Thanks to all of you for the outstanding responses. I actually started taking chlorella yesterday and already feel better...it's good stuff for detox...I'm going to slow down on the sauna...I think I just overdid the sauna and my body is already under a lot of stress from the zith, mepron, art combo for babs...

Thanks again for taking the time to help...

imho you are doing way too much
once a week for 30 min is sufficient detox for a beginner protocol.

it can then be lengthened per patient response.

humbly
