I have know proof to back it up, just an educated opinion, but I'd say it must kill some bartonella, or at the very least, help suppress it.
Flagyl does not only kill the cystic form of Lyme; it also has potential to kill mobile spirochetes. As so, I would have to venture to say that it certainly must at least attack bartonella or any free radical for that matter(possibly even a bit of babesia, but who knows).
Flagyl/Metronidazole is an extremely potent antibiotic, especially when given in high doses.
I highly doubt that any proof will surface of Flagyl killing bartonella, at least, not for a very long time -- it's far too difficult to prove that a certain antibiotic is killing a particular organism in a human body. You just have to try it out and see what kind of reaction you get, if any, and go off that.
Hell, the LLMD's cannot even prove that one is suffering from bartonella or Lyme (yeah there are tests, but we know about those).
Ultimately, I'd say, if you aren't having luck on lighter antibiotics, why not give Flagyl a whirl and see what happens. It's strong, it's effective, and it's relatively cheap in comparison to other antibiotics I've taken.
And if you really want a specific antibiotic for bartonella, well, it seems like Rifampin, Minocycline, Levaquin, and Cipro are our best guesses at this point.
I am soon going to begin a Mino/Rif/Flagyl combo to combat my unrelenting bart.

I agree flagyl is strong. Note though, dr b tick guide says tetra class abx undermine flagyl's ability.

My LLMD uses Flagyl in combo w/Azithro a lot. But he believes flagyl kills everything (lyme and co's) except babesia.

Yes, thank you for that one, I thought I read somewhere, that flagyl appears to kill just about anything. Now what can I do about billions of lyme babies?

My LLMD thinks that Flagyl kills bart. No proof though.

My LLMD thinks flagyl kills babesia too. The pharmacy sheet says flagyl kills bacteria and protoza. Wouldn't that mean Babesia?
I am having a hard time getting my dosage up. I am taking 1 1/2 pills a day with max dosage 3 pills a day.
What dosage is everyone taking? And pulsing or not? I am taking it everyday for almost 2 months now.
