Just curious, how long did it take until they were sleeping peacefully for the proper amount of time for their age? What diseases did they test positive for and what was the insomnia attributed to (e.g,, lyme, or bart or something else)?

I have a 4 year old who either wakes up really early or is up for 2 hours in the middle of the night. I can't wait until he sleeps like he should. He normally gets around 10 hours and should get between 11 and 13.

He has only been on 2 months of abx, but it seems that his night terrors have lessened, but he still does not get the sleep he should.

Thanks so much,

My daughter was dx lyme and babs at age 4. She had been infected since a tick bite at 2 and half if not congenitally.

The kid would literally turn into linda blair in the middle of the night: screaming, yelling, tossing, turning, crying, for hours!

She began treatment with zith and mepron and the night problems gradually faded. We found using music playing in the room at all times helped: also having her in bed with us so at least we didn't have to keep jumping up. Massage, baths at night, no sugar or anything near bed time, etc.

It will get better. And the middle of the night thing, get some books or comic books (like Simpsons)-not scary, and turn on the light and let them read to themselves, even if they have to be in bed with you and the light is on, at least you can doze.

insomnia was one of my son's worse symptoms.

after about 3 months into abx he started sleeping better. he took melatonin for a couple weeks. tried an herbal thing with valerian, but it gave him nightmares.

now 8 months later he is still sleeping fine.

Thank you both! It's nice to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My poor little guy is a willful child to begin with (that's why it was so hard to diagnose him!) but he's really tough when he's sleep deprived, which is most days.

Oh yeah, he used to have temper tantrums in the middle of the night, and would often cry for hours on and off. Thank goodness that no longer happens and at least he is happy now most of the time, even if he's awake.

Roro- can you tell me if your child had coinfections in addition to lyme?

catskill- how long did you end up treating her?

How many times a day did you give probiotics? Did either of you ever have a problem with yeast with your children?

Thanks so much!

My daughter has been in treatment for 18 months. When we miss a dose I see symptoms of joint and abdominal pain. She's not out of the woods yet.

She is on a very low sugar diet and hates all yogurt or acidophilus pills. I'm sure she has some yeast, but it's being controlled by strict diet more than supplements.
