i just major spine surgery on wed, july 2. laminectomy and fusion with instrumentation.
I was in the hospital for a week, my heart rate has not been below 100. its mostly 120, with a scary episode last night at 166. i have been running fevers of 102 and have drenching sweats. my skin looks all blotchy like little red capilaries are blown everywhere.
I have a big lump in my arm vein, the main artery of the forarm where they drew blood. my oxygen level was dropping to the low 80's when I went off oxygen in the hospital.
My hemocrit was down to 23 and I am severely dehydrated. they really never gave me a reason for the anemia.
i am on mega pain meds as I already was on some before the surgery. my mouth is all red, swollen, tongue burns, lips peeling, either thrush or the dehydration.
i remember coming to in recovery and every1 being all spun up, like a code, but when i asked someone said "nothing, everything is fine"
i feel like this is all bad. drs, nurses, family is saying normal for what i have been through.
too tired right now, will right more later.

Sorry you have had such a rough recovery so far.
I hope things start to go easier for you very very soon.
I know not everything we expereince is tick borne disease related....
but my heart rate went up from babs and i think it can give fevers, anemia, nightsweats... and the little red dots (petchie sp?) I have heard can come from babs too...
babs has given me shortness of breath but i am not sure if it usually actually lowers the oxygen level...
I was just wondering if they thought that maybe having surgery set the babs to flare... like i said I know not everything is from a tbd ...
it was just a thought that was lonely drifting around my mostly empty skull..

thanks evryone i am feeling better already. its been a tough recovery so far, but being home is a lot better than being in the hospital, and no scary episodes yet except for confusion.
last nite i couldn't remember my hubby's name. I knew I wanted something to drink, but i was looking at him and didnt know how to call him.
i was in chat and fell asleep and he typed in that I fell asleep. i was having beginnings of claw hand, but it went away.
it was very scary being in the hospital and not being told
what happened to me. i kept thinking i was dying and they weren't telling me. I fought hard. several times I had to use deep breathing to control my pain.
i never believed in that before but although it doesn't stop the pain, it makes you feel more in control, and is better for you psychologically.
on monday nite in the hospital i had a very scary episode, my heart rate went up to 166. got through it.
having a pain flare up, will post later

i wanted to elaborate more on the scary episode with the heart-rate in the hospital. i was hearing a pounding noise in my sleep, it was in real life but interrupted my dream
and in my dream evryone screaming and running away but i woke up to hear it was real. (like when the alarm clock sounds like its another thing in the dream, just before you wake up)
when i woke up i was looking around trying to see what the pounding was. i realized it was my heart. i looked over at the monitor and it was 166. i called the nurse and they watched till it went back down. it was so scary, i could hear, feel, and see my heart.
i am thinking too because the drenching sweats, high fevers it is babs and started treating with artemisinin.
