Hi!

(I have another TMI question... [Big Grin] )

Recently, my tongue has become more forward in my mouth... closer to my teeth. It also feels thicker.

It really bothers me because I worry that people might see my tongue when I talk.

My swallowing also is loud, so this probably has to do with the togue.

I will try to get my mom to make me an appt. with an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist, but in the meantime I would truly appreciate suggestions on helping this embarrassing problem.

Mystery,
I think it's been discussed before. You might want to do a search.
I hope you're able to figure it out soon and get some relief.

I have this sensation with babesia.

I've even been to the ER insisting that if I closed my mouth I would stop breathing. [shake]

Tongue held in front of mouth....feels enlarged....difficulties with swallowing.

I am a swallowing specialist. (Speech Therapist).

Very scary feeling.

Of course ER sent me home with xanax. [Frown]

Lyme therapy helped some, but babesia therapy has helped the most.

Still would get into an ENT....one possibly familiar with Lyme and/or co-infections.

Having water or something cold to drink on hand also helped.

So while initiating a swallow on saliva was nearly impossible for me,

A swallow of something cold (which also stimulates the swallow reflex)

Was more easily swallowed. Helped me get over the panic/anxiety of the moment just knowing

I could still swallow....something.

Keep us posted please.

Maybe give your tongue something to do further back in your mouth.

Like take a melt away probiotic and hold it with your tongue on the roof of your mouth.

Hugs,

Geneal

My tongue swells up when I eat a food that I have an insensitivity to.

It took me a while to find out because I was
developing new ones over time; so I was getting
the fat tongue off and on seemingly randomly.

If benadryl helps, that is a sign that looking
into an allergy is a good idea.

Good Luck,

kpa

my tongue gets swollen at times too. my tounge actually has ridges on the edge that are indentations of my teeth-a sign that it is too big. A dr once told me an enlarged tounge is a sign of thyroid problemes... I do have thyroid problems.

Im not sure if an E, N, and T specialist would be able to help at all. My expereince has been that most conventional or non llmd drs have been a waste of my time and money.

do you have an llmd? what about a good nutrionist or chiropractor? I also live in nj, freehold and have found some good dr in the area
