I believe my Mother has Lyme. Her doctor is running test for her for Lyme. She wanted to post but unfortunately her best friend that had a heart transplant 10yrs ago just died yesterday.
Her doctor sent her in for a sleep study. The nurse called her back with the results. She woke up 59 TIMES! Her 02 stats dropped between 88-84 when she did wake. Which is low. Normal levels should be between 98-100%.
She has insomnia a LOT. Like myself. She also wakes up a lot due to pain, muscle twitching, ice pick type pain in the muscles and muscle jerking. Like myself, which wakes her up.
Does anyone else have sleep apnea caused from their Lyme? Or do you know if Lyme causes sleep apnea. I would think it does do to the muscle pain and neuropathies. I could be wrong but my gut says yes.

Hubby has sleep apnea from his Lyme. This is very common. He uses a CPAP machine. Had 2 different sleep studies. He never got into REM sleep. His oxygen levels didn't fall as much as your mom's, but he woke up more times -- can't remember the exact number.
He probably doesn't need the CPAP anymore -- doesn't snore like he used to and sleeps sounder -- haven't retested this in last 4 years. I think his treatment has helped eliminate the sleep apnea -- still uses the CPAP some but not all the time.
For hubby low serotonin levels were probably a major factor in poor sleep. Have improved this with supplements.

I have Apria and not sure if it's increased due to Lyme. Have always snored, but not overweight nor smoke.
Per my study several years ago had over 130 episodes of wake etc. So I dont think your mom's case is severe, however it will cause fatigue if not treated w. CPAP or somthing else.
Many people can benefit from a mouthpiece that helps open the airway when you sleep. These are available at dentists or I think they sell a cheap version online.
