Is this a fresh case of lyme?
Are you newly diagnosed (but with chronic lyme)?
Have you been evaluated for coinfections?
New case, or chronic, though, I'd get the very best advice from a LLMD who also was expert at the complementary offerings. (I know many don't have a LLMD or access though).
There are some wonderful complementary approaches.
However, there is no one thing that adequately addresses it alone. And, they must have a thorough knowledge of lyme and coinfections and heavy metals.
I've lived on Olive Leaf Extract for years. It's been the only thing I could afford. It has helped tremendously. While I am far better than I was, I am still in very poor health with frequent seizures and severe fatigue. It is not enough.
When I've been able to do the Zhang protocol, for a few months here and there, I did much better. However, it's best to be able to be on that solid for 6 - 12 months.
I've just given andrographis a try and find it seems to be helping calm the seizure threshold for me (It's from Buhner's book). But, no ONE thing is enough. Combination treatment is vital for the long run success.
Still, if all one could do would be one or two things IMO, allicin or andrographis would be at the top of the list with Olive Leaf Extract as an alternate for rotation. GrapeFRUIT seed extract may be good, but it's not that simple.
You may not be drawn to abx treatment, or have it available. If you do, please still read all about it. There are ways to help keep the liver safe.
And, even if you are not drawn to abx or have access, you should still know the ILADS protocol inside and out as to WHY certain drugs are recommended and the timing and combinations.
I would not do one thing until first reading the ILADS treatment guidelines at www.ilads.org
Then, every word in all three of the books below. And, note, that if you have access to a LLMD, many incorporate methods from all of these books.
then, I would read from Dr. K's neurotoxin elimination protocol that details brain toxin in lyme patients and how to approach that:
Lyme Disease and Modern Chinese Medicine - by Dr. QingCai Zhang MD, Yale Zhang
you can access his web site through www.hepapro.com or try www.sinomedresearch.org and use "clinic" and then "clinic" for the passwords or call Hepapro.
-===================================
This book has only one reference to lyme (in the historical use of sarsarparilla for another spirochetal infection). However, it is a vital first book to read - or a reference - for anyone interested in understanding nutritional methods.
Graciously, much of this book is on line. It can also be purchased from this site or through Amazon where you can look inside the book and see many customer reviews.

If you're new to having Lyme, I would use a method that works for sure, like antibiotics as you only have one chance to get rid of it completely!!!
If you have a chronic case there are several herbal options.
GSE is good for the cyst form. Olive leaf is good for something specific, but I don't know what for sure as I've never taken it.
You might like the book "Healing Lyme" by Buhner, it is about using herbs. The core protocol is Samento, Andographis, and Resveratrol (japanese knotweed).
There is also the Cowden protocol available at Nutramedix.com.
