I've been really doubting having Lyme and really having CFS since my Igenex Western Blot was negative(but showed several reactions on Lyme specific bands)On my first appt with my LLMD Aug 13 she said it was very probable that I had Lyme and Co so she drew blood for the Co's and I just got back from seeing her about the results. I was POSITIVE!!!! I really couldnt believe it.

I really thought it was just gonna be another deadend. I was positive for Babesia M through Igenex so I'm starting Zith and Mepron so I'm really hoping now that I am in the right direction towards recovery no matter how long it takes.

Thank you all so much for your help, care and especially for directing me to the one doctor that understood what was wrong and will make a difference!!!!

Mike

Thank you all for all of the info and direction. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Mike-

That's great news that you found an answer. Since our symptoms are so similar I thought maybe you had babesia.

Though I tested negative my LLMD is treating me clinically.

Did you get the Mepron yet? It looks like yellow paint!

I'm really glad for you.

That's great!! Now, let's get you WELL!!!

Be sure to watch your diet while on abx. The yeast can sneak up on you and then you'll be sorry you weren't more careful!

No sugar, no bread, no potatoes, etc. ( no starchy foods ), limit fruit.

Keep the faith!! [Smile]

I'm one that was sorry I wasn't more careful. It snuck up on me and now I am puking up the Nystatin. I haven't really ate much since on i.v. treatment so I haven't been too careful about what I ate because whatever I could get into my little belly was good enough.

Now I have another problem to deal with.

Glad you got an answer to your question. I know how it feels to wonder, heck, I'm positive and I still wonder!

Thanks Lies and Lymetoo

Even though I'm still very sick, it is still just such a great relief to know what is causing it and not just a label. Now with proper direction I'm looking foward to getting my life back. I have hope again and am looking foward to the future.

I have a quick question on treating and detoxing?
Should I just stick with oral Zith and Mepron for now or should I add Artemisinin? Also when should I start detoxing? and what are good detox remedies? I forgot to ask LLMD

[woohoo] ANSWERS!!!!! [woohoo]

Personally, I would call & ask LLMD about adding the Artemisinin. One of mine specifically recommended Dr.Zhang's Artemesiae.

I seem to have had a tough time kicking it. I also tested positive for B.duncani at a later point in time, so I may have contracted both. [Roll Eyes]

Be sure to take a good strong probiotic 2-3 hours away from the ABX (or they'll just fight each other).

Also of importance, take the Mepron with a high-fat meal. the pharmacist told me 24 gms.

I used to get by with 2 Tbsp Peanut Butter or butter on a slice of bread or 2 Tbsp. Marie's creamy salad dressing on a small salad.

I had HUGE problems forcing food down.

This time around I've only been using Zhang's Artemesiae to address the Babs, along with my Rocephin & Biaxin, no Mepron.

I did notice improvement in my appetite shortly after I started taking it, so I hope it's working.

I'm so glad that you were able to get some confirmation. It's so hard to deal with the feelings of uncertainty when you can't get a stupid positive test. I really hope they fix those tests soon!

Congratulations! I so glad that you are on track to getting yourself well and know what to go after.

Best wishes,
[group hug]
Ali

The LLMD you went to didn't mention Artemisinin or Detox?

Hmmmmm....... [confused]

Drink lots of water with lemon.
Epsom salt soaks are helpful, too.

I'd be careful what detox stuff you do on Mepron because you don't went to counter it's effectiveness.

NO CoQ10 supplements and NO Milk Thistle while taking Mepron.

I would add artemisinin when you feel comfortable doing so. A very rare group of people don't tolerate it well at all, so if that is you, just open up the capsules and take like 1/3 or 1/6 of a capsule per day. Unfortunately, that is all I can take or else my liver stops detoxing. But I figure it's better than nothing. My body just doesn't eliminate it....but for others, it's supposed to be great.

Also, be prepared for the third week of Mepron....that is when it hit me hard!

Also with the Mepron, don't take Vit. E supplements, Milk Thistle (check the ingredients in any of your detox supplements), or Alpha Lipoic Acid with it. There may be others.....but those are the ones I know of. And get enough fat with each dose.

Best of luck to you!!!

hoosiers51- Would you mind if you described what happened during your third week on Mepron?

I just posted that I've been feeling incredibly depressed. I'm also having increased brain fog.

Mike, just curious...do you know what the actual #'s of your Babs test were?
