Sorry to ask another question on this board, but I am doubting myself a little.
Am in Aussie where lyme testing is not great and have now had 2 negative tests,I know they aren't conclusive, but is hard when you don't have any evidence of what you were certain you had!!
I have herxed quite strongly on doxy, amoxil, garlic and am about to go off doxy and start rifampin as I have bad anxiety and foot symptoms and my doctor wants to target possible bart.
I need some reassurance. Would I be herxing if I didn't have lyme or some other TBD??
My symptoms tingling, numbness in feet, muscle twitching, tingling in soles of feet upon waking, blurred vision that comes and goes in right eye, anxiety that came after initial symptoms commenced verging on panic attacks, cracking joints, crawling feelings, fatigue etc.
My fatigue and some other symptoms have decreased since I started treatment 3 months ago.

Herxing is generally considered confirmation of diagnosis. Check the Dr. B treatment guidelines, he talks about it there. www.ilads.org
Rifampin should be used with another abx to prevent resistance. I'm not thinking entirely clearly today .... I think the source might be the Rifampin website .... but it might also be in the Dr. B guidelines.

Kelly, it would be wise to contact Igenex by phone and order an international test kit. You have your blood drawn using the vials sent by Igenex and then you mail the blood overnight directly to Igenex. You should probably order a Lyme Western Blot IgM and IgG, which are 95 US dollars per test, so about 200 USD in total.
Go to Igenex website for more information. This would certainly given you assurance I feel.

Your symptoms are very Lymie, and improvement on abx likely indicates you have some kind of bacterial infection so it seems like you are on the right track. I wouldn't worry about a couple negative tests from a nonspecialized lab.
I totally agree that you should get a lyme test with IGeneX, just do a Western Blot test which runs $200 USD.
Keep treating!

Another bacterial infection, chlamydia pneumonia (Cpn) can cause herx like reactions to antibiotics. You might consider getting tested for that, and if the IgG antibody titer is high, then it could indicate an active, chronic infection.
For your symptoms, those could be cause by tick borne disease, Cpn or viral infections such as EBV, HHV-6, Parvo, etc. You could consider getting tested for those as well.

Why don't you call Igenex and ask them?? They should have some tips for you.
