I have my new prescription for Rifampin but I'm afraid to start it until after next week end.
After missing my Eucre Club for three years we finally decided to have it at my house on the 27th so if I get tired/sick whatever I can just go to bed. These folks have been the most loving and supportive friends.
I've gone off the Cowden and I'm on Biaxin/Amox and when I go to Rifampin will probably do the Rifampin/Biaxin and add the HH when I can. But I don't want to experiment this week or next.
I only do 150 mg 2 x per day for the first week and then 300 mg 2 x per day after that - I thought about starting next week on the smaller does yet I'm still cautious. I really want to be well to visit with my friends.
For those experienced with Rifampin - am I being too paranoid?
Thanks so much - you are all so helpful.

Rifampin was very easy for me as well. Maybe some increased muscle burning but nothing tragic! Good luck.

Great news! I am getting pretty excited about this.
I have a friend that had horrible herxes on this drug and never got to the full dose but he is earlier in his treatment.

You are not being too paranoid my friend had the experience from hell while on Rifampin and had to go off of it. Everyone as we know reacts differently to different drugs.

You still have a week, right? Maybe you could start taking it today, and if in a couple of days you have a herx you could stop taking it in time for the herx to go away?

I'm going to think on this a little bit.
I may start Sun or Mon so I'm still on the lower dose on the day of my party and still have enough time to see how I will react.
Thanks, everyone for your responses.

You can be the life of the party with orange pee-pee!
I had a really tough time with rifampin.
Bad muscle cramps, especially at night.
Including cramps in my bladder.
It has been one of my toughest meds for me thus far.
Sorry to give negative feed back, but I couldn't wait to go off of it.
Now, I dread maybe going back on.
I took tons of extra magnesium while on rifampin.
It did help, but did not stop all my muscle cramps.
Hugs,
Geneal

thanks for the tips Geneal.
Don't apologize for the negative feedback - I was looking for honest feedback.
I still think I may try it Monday at the lower (first week ) dose and see how it goes. I do have several days to change my mind, though!!
