My doctor has given me the scripts for Babesia. The Babesia protocol: Clindamycin, qualaquin for 10 days then 10 days off and taking Biaxin and Plaquenil for ten days. My question: since I was NOT ever tested for Babesia and the only symptoms I have are sweats, chills (not constant) and also at weird times, like when I wake up in the a.m. go into full sweat before getting up, and some fatigue, what would you do? When I had the western blot for Lyme it really didn't show much, so he just went ahead and put me on the Doxy. I took for about 6 months. Got better, (same symptoms as above) and quit taking meds. Three or four months later slight sweats starting. LLMD doesn't test me for babesia. Gives me all the scripts. Reading about them I am now terrified to start throwing many pills down and becoming v. sick. I am not even sure I have Babesia. What would you do? LLMD out of state and don't see for three months. I would so love to try alternative meds. Need advice. Lymetoo, you know who I am, please advise. I just read today that Hypoglycemia can cause sweats and chills. Never need that. Your opinions? I am so frustrated [confused]

I've done malarone and mepron for babesia.

Currently on mepron.

I think it is an easier protocol than the one your doctor prescribed.

However, I am not sure since I've never done those meds.

My LLMD diagnosed me with babesia based on symptoms also.

Night sweats/air hunger/jaw pain/etc.

Once I started babesia meds, I had drenching night sweats every night for 5 weeks.

Cold/hot and that faint sense of imbalance I had was exacerbated to full out imbalance.

Definitely a herx.

Hopefully someone else can comment on the protocol.

Hugs,

Geneal

My doctor also diagnosed me with babesia based on symptoms. I am on Malarone and Biaxim.

My doctor felt the test for babesia were less reliable than the lyme test.

My symptoms have increased over the past 4 weeks. I believe this is a herx.

From what I understand, If you don't have it, ther meds should not impact you that much. Ifyou do get worse I would think that would be a confirmation of your doctor's diagnosis.

Good luck

My LLMD Dxed me too based on symptoms alone...IGenix Babesia FISH was negative. As always, regular doctors have NO idea what Babesia is and look at me like I'm from Mars when I say I'm taking Malarone...ahhh the fun.

Thanks for answers. I think my doctor likes to use the big guns, but I am just not convinced. I burned my esophogus when I was on Doxy after about 6 months. Took 2 pills before bedtime not thinking about it and low and behold I have never in my life had such pain. Couldn't eat or drink very little for two weeks. Went to gastro doc who said he could guarantee I had bleeding ulcers without even scoping me. Horrible.

Yikes!

I took my first doxy and laid down.

I suffered so all night long.

Pain in the esophagus so bad it kept me up.

Never, ever did that again.

Also took mine with food to lessen stomach upset.

Hope your esophagus gets to feeling better soon.

Hugs,

Geneal

Geneal,
When I burned my esophogus, I took two 100 mg. Doxy with a little milk, not thinking and went to bed. The pain I felt was worse than natural childbirth.

My gastro doctor told me that Doxy is one of the worst pills you can take and then lay down because it is a sticky pill and will stick in your esophogus. He said always stay up for at least a couple of hours and drink lots of water.

I learned a horrible lesson. Of course I had no idea that could happen. I think I had been taking Doxy for so long and just didn't think. I hope no one ever goes through this.

Hi Kiwi

From the symptoms you list it sounds like
you have Babs -- AM sweats are common

Babs is a Very tough bug and hard to get rid of-

Most likely you are going to get sicker for
awhile before you get better -
Thats just how it goes --

Dont take doxi with milk or Dairy Anything
will make the doxi useless --Jay--
