If an ELISA is positive, is it most likely they will have a positive Western Blot too?

The results of the WB have not come back yet.

And they hardly have any symptoms!

Shouldnt they get abx right away??

The patient should have been on antibiotics as soon as there was any mention of possible Lyme Disease.

Any idiot Doctor, even in BC where Lyme does not exist, will put you on a couple weeks of Doxy while you are waiting for your inaccurate test results.

When your test comes back fine, then you get no further treatment and become chronic for the rest of your life.

yes i agree & you are preaching to the choir!!!!

i have lyme and have been getting treatment for 6 months now, and i read these boards. the sooner you start treatment the better.

after all the $hi# i have to go thru you would THINK that people in your FAMILY would listen to you about this disease!!

i have a family member that is being a stubborn a$$. HE wont get treatment until his stupid blot comes back. what the hell is the point of that???

i guess because he is not suffering it is ok to wait a week. grr..

i am so furious and so frustrated right now!! UGH. [rant]

i'm not so sure..as lyme crazy as i am I am the owner of a CDC positive lyme patient (my son) with very few (really no symptoms) symptoms.

Sometimes I think the more positive you are the more your body has responded. My negative people (two daughter, a sister and a husband) are all CDC negative but really sick.

We are, however, monitoring our son and will treat him at any sign.

ELISE positives can easily be false negative and false positive.

Don't get your hopes up. The Western Blot is a much better indication.

I had a false-negative ELISE multiple times, but only an IND Elissa later on, however my Western Blot was extremely positive, with around 9 bands, including 4 of which were specific to Borrelia Burdorferi B31.
