My husband's LLMD has recommended krill oil to boost his low WBC (from Lymenet searches, this seems to be associated with Rocephin, which he's on right now).
LLMD has recommended krill oil from the office of a Dr. R. I haven't been able to make contact yet, and am looking for an interim type.
From the searches, it seems that Neptune NKO brand is good and mercury-safe. I googled, and found a Reuters article announcing that NKO is being sold under the brand "Schiff" at Walgreens.
Can anyone verify this, and/or suggest another safe, effective "over the counter" brand that I can order, until I get "the real thing" from Dr. R?
Many thanks!

I'm on Shark Liver Oil for low WBCs too. My doctor told me to get it from a certain naturopath. Since then I've ordered directly from the company. That brand is Oceana. Look up Oceana Products to order on the web.
One concern I have about the SLO is PCBs and mercury and other contaminents that would be concentrated in the liver. Some companies molecularly distill their fish oil to remove those contaminents, but I haven't seen any shark liver oil that is molecularly distilled.
I did call Oceana and talked to a representative who said that it is molecularly distilled, but she said that she was reading this on the bottle, and frankly, my bottle of SLO does NOT say anything about being molecularly distilled. In fact, it says it is minimally processed.
ugh! But anyway, the naturopath who recommends this brand is supposed to be very good about finding the superior quality source.

Sorry for taking so long to reply--thanks for the information from both of you.
Back--was the naturopath who you ordered from, by any chance, a Dr. R? I'm wondering if it's the same one.
Larkspur--thank you, I'm going to check out the link for XanthOmega.
Do you both know what dosage you're taking? Is it just as directed on the bottle?
Also, I realized that I'm confused about whether krill oil and shark liver oil are the same thing or different? If they are different, are there advantages to one over the other?
Thanks!

I get my krill oil from mercola.com. Great stuff. I get the kind that is also enhanced with evening primrose oil.
Cheers,
Alison
