Your only option is to stay out of the sun. I did not find sunblock any help. I have permanent reddening of my knuckles from sun coming through my tinted car windows.It's the pits. Kris

Not to be glib, but stay out of the sun. Wear long sleeves, long pants, sunglasses and a hat.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I didn't realize quite how intensely sun sensitive doxy can make you, even though I had a healthy respect for it.
Gambler, sorry to hear that you had such a bad burn. Yes, I will definitely use the wide brimmed hat. That is the one thing that I did not have with me today.
Scott, thanks for your note. Yes, I had my sunglasses on today, and always have them with me. Hopefully that with the hat will protect my eyes...
Joysie, thanks for your post. I figured that February would be a good time to do doxy, but we got some instant spring here today in the northeast.
I will hibernate. Am getting the feeling that I will probably sunburn even on a cloudy day! Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

The sunblock won't help because doxy actually makes you very sensitive to wavelengths of the sun that sunblock doesn't do anything for!

I got a great long sleeve spf 50 shirt. I got it in white and I can throw it on over anything. It is a little big so it doesn't cling and the material is very breathable.
The clothing isn't cheap but I certainly got my money's worth and was able to enjoy some time at the beach last summer even on Doxy.
Search on SPF clothing for some companies that carry it. Good luck!

I had to wear gloves when I drove when I was on doxy. I got sunburned through the glass.

I also have gotten sun poisoning on several occasions. Not fun! Also had 3rd degree burns on my hands too.
The burned flesh looked like hamburger meat that had been thawed in the microwave.. with big black spots throughout.
And I worked outdoors for a living.. so I had to wear SPF 60- no help much of the time.. and also gloves.
Even the sun coming through the car window on short trips.. as folks mentioned.. was too much.
And today.. not on doxy or any meds... I was out in the sun too. I THOUGHT I was mostly in the shade. Actually I was mostly in the shade of big trees.

Cover up completely even in the car, hat, gloves, scarf, long sleeves. The Vermont Country store sells very light white cotton gloves. I always kept a pair in the car along with a big scarf and wide brimmed hat. hats

Complete head to toe covering of all your skin. I know that will seem crazy with summer coming soon, but trust me, stay covered.
When walking out and about I would also recommend a huge beach umbrella overhead. People might think you're nuts being covered head to toe and carrying an umbrella, but who cares, its sure better then the sunburn and tingling throughout the body. I did that last year from May-August, and I survived... so can you! : - )
