Took none for 2 months due to tendon soreness in lower calif muscles and tendons.
Started back up after 2 months but only at 250mg. Continued use for 4 months and than taken off cipro.
It was hard on my tendons and muscles but at this time all is well.
It was my understanding that it travels with in your blood and into the the vains that supply the tendons and muscles and enters deeply and helps kill the spirochete. I believe this is what helped my shoulder pain.

I used it for 2 months for bart. I became extremely sore, exhausted and bedridden again.
I don't know if that was a good herxing sign or a side effect sign - although the longer I was on it I had I had a greater number of better days, but still tons of pain.
My LLMD took me off it and said she didn't want me so sick.

It's so funny (well not really funny), but so many people with MS say they cannot tolerate Cipro as it makes all their MS symptoms worse.
Many neuros will not prescribe Cipro for their MS patients because of the side effects (read herxheimer). Hmmmm do MS people all have bartonella co-infecitons?

thank you. interesting.
i am on it for 10 days for ear infection that didn't respond to zith
i stopped my rifampin to take it. have been on rifampin a few months for bart. it was hard to work up to full dose of 600mg a day-but i did. alot of up and down cuz herx was so bad-pain and psyc stuff.
the cipro is just making me tired i think-also gives me reflux and i need more probiotics...but i think it is making a difference in the ears and it only the first day
i didn't know tendon problems went with it---i only knew that about levaquin
thanks for info
oh yeah---the first time i took cipro a year ago for sinus...i ended up in bed. took a pill-in bed for 12 hrs. started to move around-took another-back to bed.
so i suspect it is killing something---at least knocking it down some-

it just doesn't seem to end
i kept getting worse pain AROUND joints-not in them
above and below hips, below knee and the worst up my forearms
also-sweats are worse-grossing me out...i wash my hair and after one sweat it is all greasy
i called the doc to see if we i should worry about the pains-any chance they were in tendons from cipro and they said i was so complicated i had to go to er
doc said tendon rupture from cipro type drugs is almost always (he never heard of it being anywhere else-in achilles)
is this true? i thought i heard about ppl on here "blowing out a knee" on it
anyway-he said i shouldn't be in such pain so switched me to augmentin
i had some abd pain the first hour after i took it-which i sort of understood
and i was tired and rested and forced fluids---i have sinus infection with ear infection and it is getting worse
but 6 hours later i woke in the worse sweat i've had and now i feel bloated and have bad pain on upper right of abd---it is not going away. i called-he said take tylanol-i did its stiill bad...maybe worse.
is it just the abx? liver? herx?
i'm sick of this. havent really slept in a week and can't figure it out.
now i'm thinking maybe i should have stuck it out with cipro-maybe the pain was just herx...not tendon
