mike has been having joint pain i knees, elbows, you name it.

he was on zetia for high cholesteral and it has side effects of severe joint pain, etc.

so he goes to the doc and the doc says no it's not zetia, stop taking it for 20 dys but you have arthritis. (this is before the blood work comes back!)

now i'm thinking with his ringing in the ears, joint pain, memory really bad, that it's lyme, but i don't know anything about lyme arthritis.

how many have it? did you have it before lyme or what? does it get better with treatment?

I couldn't walk due to the pain in my hip.

My fingers on my right hand hurt so bad I couldn't use them.

I hardly ever have this pain anymore.

Will he get tested?

Hang in there.

Hugs,

Geneal

I would definitely get him tested..

It's a tough one, for me, as a norm southern lyme (me) doesn't have classic joint issues but can after starting treatment..due to toxins/die off, and inflammation of the joints..

BUT the migration of all these bugs present these issues everywhere and no matter where we are, the arthritis seems to wax and wane either before a diagnosis or rearing it's ugly head afterwards. I know many all over the country that have terrible Lyme arthritis and its' missed so much and passed off as simple arthritis..

Even if that is suspected, at least an ANA or a ESR (sed rate) should be done as well as a rheumatoid factor in the initial workup

Some antibiotics can cause tendon inflammation as well resulting in arthritis..

Lyme is also more 'evident' with symptoms in the spring and fall for some reason.

It's so interesting in the fact that no two people are alike.

I had the arthritic pain after treatment started.. Since Lyme and the variations of bacteria really have no boundaries, it's a variation of symptoms no matter where you are.

The bacteria hides/alters its cell wall (unless in wall deficient form or L form) and the arthritis can come and go.then a few weeks later one can have stomach complaints, and so on and so forth-hey that's why we're all 'crazy' in the beginning or the end!.

I haven't heard of anyone on zetia having joint problems.. Get him tested..Gosh I am at the point where i think everyone and their dog have lyme.. Almost anyways.

Good luck, it's late, sorry am rambling a bit!
