What is your dosage?

Do you feel it penetrates to the brain?
[confused]

I have had difficulty with my stomach while on other oral antibiotics. My LLMD is going to try me on Ceftin. How is it on the stomach?

Thanks!

I haven't been on it for Lyme and co. but I was on it for a sinus infection before dx.

I had major herxing with that, which kind of confirmed the dx for me.

I'm on Doxy now and have not had much of any kind of reaction, herx or otherwise, with it.

Wonder if Ceftin might work better?

Oh,, and I didn't get any upset stomach with that--but with Doxy, BLAH!!!!

I am "pulsing" Ceftin. Thirty days on (1000 x 2) and then off until I get to my lowest point. Then I go back on 30 days and off to my lowest point and back on one more time.

I'm not sure of the doses but this is what Dr. B used to reach remission twice and also what Pam W. described in her book that got her to remission.

I would love to communicate with anyone else that is doing this!

I tolerated the Ceftin well.

Seems that 2g/day has helped with my cognitive issues and has decent brain penetration. And it is easy on my GI tract.

mojo - I read that too but it was IV Ceftin wasn't it?

I guess 1000mg bid is pretty high dose but do you think it can give the same KO punch?

Is that the same as Cefuroxime? If it is, I did it for several months, 1000mg x 2.

As far as I know, it didn't do me any good, but I don't think it hurt me, either.

Oh Yeah

I was on it for 6 months by means of a chest cath. I had never felt so good. And I stayed pretty good for about a year. I still could not work( furniture builder),but at least I could feel a person under all this skin.

I wish I was on it now. I have that hallow empty feeling again. But on the bright side I am still here. I am on doxy now,and I am working my way back up to 400 mg per day. I really herx on doxy. And I have too take a break sometimes. I wish You well, and your health to improve.
be as well as You can be

migs - per Dr. B it was oral when he did it.

I have the same concern about hitting it "harder" when the time comes. I want to speak with my Dr. about that.

Does anyone know of any Lymies that have tried this???

I took 3,000 mg/day along with 2,000 of Biaxin plus Bicillin shots and it worked really well. Make sure it's not too low a dose, such as 1,000 mg/day.

I took ceftin at 1000 mg a day for 10 months along with zith. Did a lot in the way of getting me better. I could probably go back to work now.
But, I still think it's too soon and I could crash again.
