I don't believe there can be such as thing as borderline lyme. You either have it or you don't. If there's any question about it being borderline - then you most likely have it.
Can you post the results and others can help you interpret them?
100 mg of doxy is not sufficient!

101 could be borderline if it were a fasting glucose they like to see it between 80-90 but if this was after a meal your fine!

NO SEROLOGICAL TEST CAN CONFIRM LYME INFECTION OR RULE OUT LYME INFECTION. LYME IS A CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS, nomolyme. EVEN THE CDC SAYS SO! A BORDERLINE RESULT *USUALLY* MEANS A "COUPLE" LYME-SPECIFIC BANDS ARE + OR "IND"[ICATED] ON A WESTERN BLOT TEST. WELL... How do you suppose even ONE Lyme-specific band is + , unless you were exposed to Borrelia Burgdorferi?
100mg b.i.d. is NOT enough to get better from Lyme! I should know.(As do MANY here at Lymenet) That's what I was initailly put on. I herxed, I got somewhat better... then I just stayed the same- tired, achey, & never able to sleep well. YOU NEED TO GO SEE AN LLMD. PERIOD .
I did. I was put on higher levels & then switched to a different family of abx. I got better...& so can you. Don't beat around the bush. If your doc is not keen on following ILADS guidelines, FIND ANOTHER DOC!

We would need to see the actual test itself, or at least the numbers to be able to help.
Kete-tracker is correct about everything:
Lyme Is A Clinical Diagnosis. Do not rely on testing for absolute proof for or against Lyme -
If you had a borderline result from Stonybrook, then further testing could be done to solidify the diagnosis through Igenex. Igenex test 188 and 189 are for their Western Blot. You can compare tests if you have a Stonybrook WB. -
100mg x 2 is "not" enough even for 5 months. -
It's time to visit a Literate Lyme And Associated Disease Health Care Provider and or an LLMD" -
ILADS guidelines are a must. Ask if doctors follow them. If no, don't continue under their care.
Nothing new repeated here. Listen to Kete-tracker.

I think there is a "borderline" option for the ELISA, which lots of labs will run. I would definitely be treating if I had that come up borderline and I had symptoms.
If he wants to follow up with more testing later, I would insist on doing it with Stony Brook again and not Lab Corp or whatever. Just tell him/her you want to keep things consistent. I generally trust Stony Brook, though Igenex is probably better for most people, but I have had positives from Stony Brook.
200mg total per day of Doxy might not be enough, I can't remember....check out Dr. B's guidelines when you have time.
Maybe it's enough, maybe it's not, honestly can't remember, so I don't want to mislead you...just check those guidelines!
Best of luck to you!
