1) Are you taking probiotics? If not, please do so.
2) Are you taking your meds with a full glass of water & not reclining more than 45 degrees for an hour afterward? If this is the cause, it can take a couple of days of being diligent for irritation to heal before you feel relief.

go to a gastroenterologist and let them find out what it is. Could be as simple as diet. Avoid fructose, and fruits like grapes, etc.

You need to reduce sugar and carbs. Take probiotics. Might need an anti-yeast med like diflucan or nystatin, or one of the herbals that people are using.

I get this and no doctors understand. I had a bunch of tests, and the only thing that came up was too much air in my lungs, so they said I have chronic obstructive lung disease. But I knew that the problem was digestive, because of the burping.
Whatever caused the burping also caused heart palpitations, anxiety, chest pain, left arm pain and trouble breathing. Upper GI tests (w/barium) did not show anything, no hiatal hernia for instance.
I have diagnosed myself with some sort of allergic esophagitis (my eosiniphils were high, which would point to allergy).
The most helpful thing for me for quick relief is simethicone, which comes in many products like Gas-X, Mylanta Gas, etc. I buy the chewable cherry ones so I can have one if the problem arises. These release all the air all at once in one big burp, and after that, I can breathe and my heart calms down. I know that the air is causing a lot of pressure in there, and that is where the symptoms come from.
Plain old Tums and sometimes even Zantac can help. I personally stay away from Prilosec etc. but most MD's will try to tell you to do that. I think Zantac is better for allergies, because, an MD told me, it blocks histamine release in the Gi tract. Alkaseltzer Gold can also be soothing.
Longer term involved healing inflammation, which I do with Gastrocrom, or by being very careful about what I eat, avoiding allergens. (If you don't know what foods you are allergic to, then do a 2 week elimination diet and rechallenge on food at a time).
I also tried doing inhaled steroids, which my family has for asthma, and spraying them into my mouth and throat, then swishing with water and swallowing, to treat my esophagus. I read about this and tried it.
Treating for yeast with "swish and swallow" might also work if yeast is part of the reason for inflammation in the first place.
This is very unpleasant, and few people understand what it is like, especially medical people.
p.s. Avoid advil, aspirin, naproxen etc. and any other meds that irritate the esophagus or digestive tract. I just had a bad 7 day bout of this after taking one advil. Also, I had a month of this once after doing bioidentical hormones, which contained an ingredient that I am allergic to. Also avoid hot spicy foods, horseradish, hot mustard, chili, curry etc.

You might want to try some of the easy gallbladder cleanses and see if they help at all.

have you guys done parasite stool tests? If they came up clear did they test for Dientamoeba fragilis and Giardia? It's not always easy to detect them... The samples have to get there promptly and they have to use the right preservatives etc.

So sorry to hear you're suffering! I get those exact symptoms - we're still trying to figure it out, but I think it's mostly just Lyme Disease affecting my digestion. Yuck! Whenever I'm herxing, it gets worse.
Try the regular: sauna, coffee enemas (these really help my GI issues), liver support, anti-Lyme treatment, yada-yada. :-) I wish you the best of luck because it's horribly awful suffering

I have had parasite testing in the past, negative.
The treatments that I described worked fine for me, and once I figured out what helped me, I haven't had these symptoms for more than a week at a time, maybe twice a year. So, for me anyway, parasites are unlikely.
It's basically GERD. I had no GI symptoms from Lyme, but many of my GI problems since diagnosis have been from the antibiotics, frankly.
The point I was trying to make is that belching means air in the system, and the pressure from air being in the system can cause some unlikely effects, such as chest pain, arm pain, heart palps, which are not normally associated with belching and which MD's will not know how to interpret.
