Hi everyone,

I know there's a supplement called Artemisnin (sp?) aka wormwood??? But are there alternatives to Mepron or Malarone either natural or anti-malarial?

Can't seem tolerate either Mepron or Malarone.

Any suggestions or experiences from people?

Thanks in advance!

clindamycin and quinine -- speak with your doctor about this.

Another question, are clindamycin/quinine IV's or orals?

Malarone has been giving me horrendous stomach problems.

Cryptolepsis is an herb recommended by Stephen Buhner of the Healing Lyme book (herbal approach, he also has a column on the Planet Thrive website) and my naturopath likes it, too. It may be easier on the liver than Artemisia/Artemisinin and liver issues have been a problem for me in the past from antibiotics.

Clindamycin and quinine can both be oral; I have heard of llmds prescribing IV clindamycin also.

Very important to take lots of probiotics when taking clindy, it can be tough on the GI tract like other abx. Was great for me though.

I've been taking 1 malarone a day for the last month. Going up to 2 per day is too fatiguing for me, especially since I went back to work this week.

I don't know if the malarone is doing anything, but I read on the LymeMD blog, that the dose isn't important, but the length of time on the medicine is.

Maybe just try 1 malarone for several months. Perhaps, that may be more tolerable.

You can try herbs like Enula from Nutramedix, or Artemesia.
