When I'm sleeping on my back, I notice my arms and sometimes my legs will get a numb, tingly feeling. It's not the same as when you get painful "pins and needles" from compression.
It gets better if I change positions but comes right back. It's interfering with my sleep, to say the least.
This has come and gone since starting Lyme treatment.
Is it Lyme or something else?
I would search the archives but the search function doesn't seem to work.
Anyone else have this?

I get this too...sometimes it's just my hands, but often it is my arms as well. Very bothersome for sure.

This is a neurologic symptom of Lyme disease. It should get better or go away with antibiotic treatment.

I don't mean to belittle your symptom, but I'm pretty certain that could be a normal thing and not Lyme related. Everyone gets that that I know of. Maybe yours is worse because of the Lyme but it is a normal occurrence.

I have this and it is not "normal". I had it so bad at one point that it would wake me up in the middle of the night and all my legs, arms, hands, and feet were entirely numb. If I would move, it would go away only to come back once I was still again.
During this time I also got it bad during the day. I had to constantly be moving my arms and legs to keep them from going numb. People must of thought I was a freak for wiggling around so much. I also don't get the pins and needles feeling, just numbness.
I don't get the body wide numbness anymore, but still my hands and feet will do it. Some nights it still wakes me up but, not every night like it was. It seems to come and go now.
A while back when I was getting acupunture I would go numb just from laying still on their table for 30 minutes. I've had two acupuncturist tell me that in chinese medicine they consider this blood deficency. However, I have heard people on here saying it's from neuropathy, which I have alot of symptoms of. So, I think it could be either of these.
As I type this my foot is going numb and I'm having to stop to shake it out.

I had this pretty bad before I started treatment. I would wake up and my entire arm would be totally numb and it took a long time to get it back to normal.
It doesn't happen much anymore. I have been treating for almost 1 year. So I think it was probably neurological.

wildcondor, maybe some normal people do have this but
I have it but never had it prior to lyme. I do not remember one incidence of it. And now it is very common.

I have this as well. Not everyday anymore, but it used to be that way. At one Point my left big toe was numb for 3 months...
Now I get the pins and needles and the need to shake out my arms and legs quite often.
I have had positional pins and needles, which almost everyone has experienced. But like the poster has stated most of the time it is not positional, like laying on an arm....this pins and needles is not normal and probably related to disease for me...neuropathy, inflamation.

jamiel, when laying on your back, you might try thin pillows under your shoulders & upper arms. Also a pillow under your knees to relieve pressure on your low back.
It could be a disc problem or nerve impingement from muscle/connective tissue inflammation.
A too-thick pillow under your head could aggravate the problem by tipping your head too far forward and giving you an unnatural position in your upper back and neck.
Seems worth a try to see if this helps, since it may be structural and not exclusively lyme-related.
Hope you find some relief.

I have this, too. It was a lot worse in the beginning. Now it comes and goes, but I do think it is neuro lyme related.
