Insomnia is a signature symptom of babs. Brain fog is signature of Lyme.

Well I haven't slept good in almost 4 years now. I take sleep aids and am lucky to get 5 hours on that. I believe it is Lyme causing my insomnia.
I have been treating for 17 months now and my brain fog is a little better; but the memory is still very bad. LLMD says that brain swelling will probably remain for a year or more after the infection is gone.
Just have to hang in there. I think it is great that you have seen improvement in 6 months. Took a year for me to see even slight improvement.

Neurological manifestations of any disease can cause insomnia, is my take.
Also, any disease that can adversely affect the brain stem (that control drives--sleep, appetite, sex drive). Any infection that goes to the brain overall.
I don't know for sure, but it seems like any TBD can probably interrupt sleep patterns.

- Liver toxicity can cause insomnia, too (toxicity from infection and also stress on the liver from everything we consume needing to be filtered out).
What has your liver support been throughout treatment? Milk Thistle?
You might explore changing your liver support as well as whatever gentle detox methods you have been using.
A warm (not hot) bath in epson salt can help sleep.
What is your magnesium level - you might increase that to bowel tolerance. Magnesium can calm down the hyper neuro stuff (raised NMDA receptors) from toxicity and support the calming GABA function. Magnesium will also help to lighten depression and tinnitus.
and Fish oil, can calm the body to help with sleep. Besides that, there are some natural sleep aids that do not stress the liver as some other sleep meds can do.
my blood is checked every 2 weeks, my liver works normal.
I take Multivitamins, Fish Oil, Magnesium, and Vit C every day.
When i look back, i would say that the insomnia started with taking the factive. but now i'm 2 1/2 weeks off of it.
