i know many of you have posted about your worst herx symptoms but right now i can't find them. my mind is just not functioning right.
i started the biaxin and flagyl on wednesday.
so far these are my symptoms: monday - started with very sore throat tuesday -two days later, my nose was running like a faucet, headache wednesday - temp ran crazy, normally i'm low, 96-7, then i went up to 99, 100, back down to 98 thursday - shoulders felt like being pulled out of sockets, my back burned like sunburn, chest started really hurting, and then the severe coughing friday - my calves hurt, like i ran too much, coughing really bad, but nothing coming up, temp up and down, shaky and weak, feeling like crying, hopeless
hubs came home and i finally got some sleep. when i first laid down, i coughed so much i thought i was going to bust a rib.
saturday -- feel a little better, just really tired, chest is so sore
he left again today to go fly. so am home watching sanctuary and qvc.
ugh, i hate this. i really do.
would you please let me know what you think? flu or just really bad herx???

I can't tell you whether or not it's the flu or a herx, but I can describe my experience on biaxin for you. It was so bad I only lasted 10 days on it.
The first couple of days I had an increase in weakness and hypoglycemia.
Then after that, I began to feel as though I was going to pass out. I couldn't get off the couch anymore because I felt so unstable.
Then, near the end of the 10 days, the chest pain kicked up. I had radiating pain through my chest and upper ribcage.
I believe I had some temperature issues as well, and it sounds like you experienced the chest pains too. I also remember crying and being shaky and weak (I'm so sorry you're experiencing this!), probably out of frustration and fear because biaxin ended up being so tough!
I hope it improves soon. Are you doing anything for detox? Can you at least take an epsom salt/baking soda bath?

i have had two epsom baths (egads, haven't washed my hair since wednesday tho, too tired..).
the water was more than lukewarm but not hot.
i'm trying to drink alot of water. have no lemons but am using lymes (heh, spelled that like lyme huh?).
my vision seems to be messed up a little, blurry, and i have to wear my glasses all the time.
i've dropped a couple of pounds cause i'm not hungry.
if this is a herx, i swear, i'm going to put a HEX on somebody big time...
hmmm, i have some charcoal and some parsley from nutramedix. would that work? also have some burber, but don't know if that's good for a herx or not.
i want my mother. if she were alive i'd call her but i can't. i started thinking about her last night and that brought on all the crying, god, i miss her so much....
uh oh, there goes the crying again....

Randi,
I will just add upon what Littlelymie has said. Biaxin has been a rough one for me as well. Some days I am sure that I have the flu....complete with the coughing, temp variations, and nausea.
My nose gets plugged and then runs like crazy but is clear....just loads of discharge.
also have the heart sx and burning across the upper chest accompanied by a severe heaviness in the chest...most of the time my head also aches to beat the band.
So I attribute my symptoms to meds or whatever TBI the med is hitting, for me probably babesia.
After reading your symptom progression, it does not sound like typical flu...but who am I to say?
As for detox, bentonite clay has been working fairly well for me. Lemons or limes are equally as good for liver detox, so I am told.
Hope that you feel better soon.

I'm no expert, but your first couple of days sounded like the flu my son just had.
Is it possible you had the flu and your last few days are the Lyme kicking you when you're down?
Hang tight! my son felt pretty rotten until he was given Tamiflu, which made a big difference!
Best wishes and thoughts to you,

thank you so much for your help. today was a little better. head just hurts from a 10 to about a 5.
i got up at 10, ate some cream of wheat, well tried to anyway, and was so exhausted i just sat and watched tv.
i was back in bed at 4, so tired i couldn't even sit up anymore. i left him watching football and said "feed yourself what's in the big white thing where you store your beer." then i went to bed under two blankets, and the bed comforter, a big downey thing. i was so cold.
i'm still coughing but not as much but when i do i almost strangle.
whatever this is, it's bad. haven't been this sick, well, since i got that last flu shot, many years ago.
at least with no voice i don't have to say anything and i'm loosing weight.
