I've been told by quite a few doctors that the bacteria loves to camp out in our hair follicles.

Which could easily explain the hair loss symptom many people complain of (I know thyroid, nutrition, etc are also reasons)

But my question is this... are there topical anti-bacterial agents we can apply to our scalp and allow to penetrate our scalp and kill bacteria within our hair follicles?

The onset of Lyme coincided with me losing my eyebrows. For about the last years I have been putting Metrogel (flagyl) on the area once or twice a day and have now have quite a bit more hair, albeit fine in texture and light in color.

This is a great question.....

I would love to know.. since my hair still is falling out like crazy all of a sudden...

And for the first time in 10 years so badly it worries me..

I wonder if we rinse with salt water or vinegar after washing our hair? Something like that would help??

Just an idea?

I would also LOVE to know more about this.......I am very thin as well.......my whole family have Hashimoto's (hypothyroidism),

and I am a lot thinner than any of them are; always have been (since about 18)

The eyebrow thing can be classic hypothyroidism at times.

There are quite a few topical abx creams used for acne. Cleocin T is one such example.

I'm supporting my adrenals with supplements and about to do the same for thyroid.

It's gotta be thyroid issues for all of us. Low thyroid function.

What's the natural way to fix low functioning thyroid?

I don't want prescriptions or cortisol or hormones....nada!

I want natural ish. Like iodine maybe?

A tea tree shampoo and/or conditioner might help.

I often rinse my hair with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vineger (or lemon juice), diluted with 6 - 8 oz water. I don't know if it would help with bacteria issues, but it's great for removing any product build-up in your hair.

Hmmm interesting. I have had many scalp problems since this began. I am going to ask about Metrogel when I have my first visit with an LLMD. Thanks for the tip. My scalp drives me nuts.
