I know my bacteria load is going down.

The one thing I noticed is I used to be so skinny...I'm 5ft 6in and now weigh 113. I used to weight 105.

Previously I had bad parasites which I've been working on for at least a year. I thought once you do these cleanses you loose weight.

I seem to have gone in the opposite direction.

I do tons of pilates and weights...could be the reason.

One thing that's been very prevelant for me is constipation which I seem to have all the time.

Hi tickalert,

I have the weight gain problem as well..quite a bit more than you though [Smile] ..and I have an issue with constipation as well. I do aerobics and weights and try to eat as good as I can but sometimes I do slip.
There could be a correlation between the two I would think. I get very bloated too. My gastro doc gave me a constipation med to try b/c nothing over the counter helps me. I have a lot of gas too - yuck.

What kind of cleanses have you done?

Thanks,
Sherrie

There is nothing wrong with buying a few new things that fit well. Remember, this may be a temporary "puffing" but it could also take a while to resolve. No one should be made to feel badly about physical reactions to illness and if that includes the body changes sizes, we still need to accept ourselves with respect. That includes having clothes that fit us nicely.

As long as you do the best you can with good self-care, have compassion and patience. And, oh, a GLUTEN-FREE diet will help to reduce some of the puffiness and inflammation causing a change in size. The most important thing is to treat the infection but also treat ourselves with respect, no matter what.

So what if our body changes shape a bit. If we take care of ourselves, that is what matters most. Weight loss (at first) and then weight gain - both often with no apparent reason - is common with lyme. Once the infection is treated this usually resolves itself in a remarkable manner.

Liver and adrenal support is vital along the way. Yoga or Qi Gong can be very helpful, too.

This book is specific to lyme and other chronic stealth infections.

THE POTBELLY SYNDROME: How Common Germs Cause Obesity, Diabetes, And Heart Disease (Paperback) - 2005

by Russell Farris and Per Marin, MD, PhD

Remember that lyme really messes up the HPA axis (Hypothalamus/pituitary/adrenal network). The pituitary has much to do with weight/growth. Mess up any part of the endocrine system and other parts suffer, too.

Is obesity an oral bacterial disease?

Excerpt:

. . . It seems likely that these bacterial species could serve as biological indicators of a developing overweight condition.

Of even greater interest, and the subject of future research, is the possibility that oral bacteria may participate in the pathology that leads to obesity. . . .

Cordyceps and FIsh Oil, on the list below, are helpful to support adrenal function. Milk Thistle for the liver support.

This is included in Burrascano's Guidelines, but you may want to be able to refer to it separately, too:

About the constipation: are you eating enough - and drinking enough water (and green tea)? Lots of vegetables are vital to help the colon keep things moving. More help from the plant kingdom may just be the ticket. Also very helpful are the antioxidants from all the colorful plants.

Flax seed meal is also a great help.
