Wondering what you have found to help with the extreme weakness.

Of course stamina is part of this too...I am good for about 5 min

And the extreme fatigue...not sleeping fatigue..just no stamina. [Smile]

i don't know if you can do this, but i started walking at the park again. it's a little over a mile for the whole loop around the pond. it takes me about 1/2 hour and i have to stop and rest at least 2-3 times.

it seems to have helped my weak and shaky legs and my feet seem to be a little warmer.

there are days when i practically cry because i don't want to do it, but i know i have to. so i just talk to myself the entire time trying to get through.

Keep at it. I know it seems ridiculous sometimes, but even 10 minutes a day can be beneficial to your over all health.

Add on from there, but go slow.

I had undiagnosed lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella for 10 years.

Two of my main symptoms were extreme muscle weakness and horrendous fatigue.

Good treatment of my diseases got rid of these symptoms. I was treated by a lyme doc who followed the Burrascano protocol.

I had 2 years of lousy lyme treatment, then switched to the Burrascano doc and was done with treatment in 1 year.

A few months into the Burrascano type treatment, the doc told me I would NEVER get rid of these diseases unless I did the 1-hour Burrascano type exercise program, which is weight lifting every other day.

That seemed impossible to me with my extreme muscle weakness. Nevertheless, with the encouragement of my husband, I went into our basement and lifted weights. I could only do 10 minutes at first, but I kept at it. Eventually I worked up to a full hour.

I did arms, legs, abdominal muscles, etc.--a full body workout. You can read in the Burrascano Guidelines what he believes this particular type of exercise is doing that makes it essential for recovery.

The Burrascano type treatment worked for me--antibiotics, weight lifting, supplements, herbs, no drinking or smoking, kefir, etc.

It is nearly 5 years since I completed my treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life. I even had steroid injections in my back about 2 years after completing treatment, and still no recurrence of these diseases.

So, you may want to compare your doc's treatment to the Burrascano protocol. And, you may want to begin the weight lifting program. The weights can be very light--a can of soup in each hand. Same for leg lifts, etc.

You will become so encouraged as you eventually see yourself being able to lift weights for a longer and longer time and being able to lift more weight.

I know what it is like to only be able to stand for 1 minute and only be able to walk 2 blocks. That was my life for at least 5 years.

And, I basically could not sleep. All my symptoms went away with good lyme treatment.

The doc is the key to getting rid of these diseases. I can't emphasize that enough. You need a doc with a lot of expertise--has to have a lot of "tricks up his sleeve" so that if the first one doesn't work for you, he has something else to try.

Looks like I am back to trying to figure out how to come up with the funds to get the treatment needed.

When I am able, I do walk 5 min, rest and then 5 min out in the National Forest. Those times make my day.

Randibear...I understand the difficulty with taking each step or for that matter trying to get dressed.

I have times when I can walk normally for 5 min and then other times when I need to struggle with each step.

I really like being in the forest. It is quiet and the high pitch sound in the ears usually goes away.

Walking around my apartment building is out...to much noise and movement going on..but for some reason...I am able to walk in the forest...the quiet and no movement.

Just got some small weights so will try to incorporate that into the plan.

Also doing water therapy which again...feels so good when I am able to do it..again about 10 min is my limit before I get too weak to get out of the pool and get dressed.

I have a good lyme doc. I just don't have the funds for the medication he would like me to be on and need to cancel (insurance) medicaid in order to get the meds through drug companies which I am not ready to do yet.

Slowly improving with the resources I have but it has been very slow.
