I think I have torn my achilles tendon. I can't get in to my ortho guy until next week but from all I read it is torn. I was never on any quinolones so that is not the cause. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do about it...surgery or just immobilization?

Have you been on Plaquenil?

I had a partial tear in one achilles and tendonitis in the other...didn't realize it was the Plaquenil til an ER doc mentioned to me that he'd seen it before.

I stopped taking it and it began to heal within days...slowly. LLMD said he's seen it a few times...Plaquenil is somehow related to the quinolones. Full name Hydroxychloroquine.

I haven't ever been on Plaquenil, just mepron and malarone. I didn't know that Plaquenic is related though. Thanks for the info. I am going to re-read about all my meds.
