My 14 year old daughter experiences alot of heart palpitations... can anyone tell me why Lyme causes this? Is it something I need to be concerned about or will it go away once her treatment is over? I have taken her to a pediatric cardiogist (before she was diagnosed with lyme) the cardiologist said she believe it was caused due to an underlying illness (which it is) and she had an ecko and everything and her heart looks great.... Do I need to worry? Is it a coinfection that does this or just the lyme itself? Thanks for listening.

My son used to say his heart hurts at 9, this went on for over a year. Heart specialits, lyme specialist...he's off treatmetn for 2 years and hasn't had symptoms. It has to do with the heart being a muscle. It passed for my son, hopefully soon with your daughter, it will pass too. At 14, she might have hormones just starting to surface. Good luck.

- " why Lyme causes this? "
* Borrelia toxins are very neuro-excitatory to the body, while also causing exhaustion. The body just can't regulate when the liver is overwhelmed and the nerves are bathed in toxins.
* Lyme depletes magnesium and magnesium deficiency can cause heart rhythm problem
* Lyme also affects the HPA axis and causes a surge in stress hormones that affect the heart and heart rhythm. HPA axis is the Hypothalamus/Pituitary/Adrenal triangle.
* Lyme also really messes up the various nervous systems that regulate things like temperature, breathing, heart rate, etc. -

The palps are definitely disease related; Lyme and others. Start with simple solutions first, like a Magnesium supplement. If you want orals, try a Mag glycinate supp. This usually helps most people. My palps began to lessen as my treatment progressed and have disappeared altogether now.
Best to you.

I have been experiencing "ectopic beats" and my physicians don't fully attribute them to Lyme. I've heard "this may just be normal for me now" and that I look alright so it's not to be treated unless I develop stronger symptoms.
Reminding doctors of the fact that it started during a 4 day break from abx, makes them fall silent and pretend I am not speaking.
Your daughter is not alone.
Good news is, in speaking with others that had similar experiences, sounds like it generally goes away with antibiotic treatment. Mine is slowly getting better but not gone.

Wow, thanks for all the information!!! Keebler, you mentioned a Magnesium Deficiency... Kayla currently drinks Aloe Vero Juice which I believe has Magnesium... Can this help her?? Is this good for her? She drinks it away from her antibiotics. Only a couple of ounces per day.
Any opinions?
