We are currently treating 3 of our 4 children. We just had our 3 year old tested as well as he is starting to show some symptoms that could indicate a TBI.
I am curious to know from those of you who have or are currently having your children treated for lyme and co-infections what the duration of their treatment was/is.
One of my boys has been on abx since Sept and the others since Nov. They are making good progress but curious how long others have treated, just to get an idea of what an "average" is.

My daughter did an 18 month course of mepron/zith and she's been off for 18 months. All good here.

Our LLMD told us that it would take 1 to 3 years to treat our 3 young children who are infected with Lyme, bart, babs and I think ehrlichia. My 5 year old boys have been in treatment for almost 2 years and my 3 year old daughter about a year and a half. They are much better but still have positive babs tests and a few remaining symptoms.
Just this week, I have decided to transition them to herbs and homeopathy to see if that can complete the job. We seem to have plateaued on the abx.
I have found a homeopathic practitioner who uses bioenergetic testing with an electrodermal screening machine. It is very useful to see which infections remain in the body and which herbs/meds work for the infections.

Well kudos to you Aimee. The fact that you are on top of this so early will benefit your kids.
My kids have been in treatment for awhile. The older one has been treated for LD and coinfections since summer 08. She had been very sick since 06 but wasn't diagnosed until summer 08.
Her treatment has been a rollercoaster ride...she has had so many ups and downs. If only I knew then what I know now.
My youngest was dx'ed in summer 08 and began aggressive treatment. Again, if only I knew then what I know now...
My kids have been so sick that they were not able to function.
catskillmama, glad to hear about your daughter. My oldest is on mepron and it is definitely helping.
tickbattler, sounds like you have a great LLMD. Transitioning to herbals is a good idea IMO when taking abx has reached a pleateau. I think it's worthwhile to consult with a homeopathic practitioner.
