I wish I didn't read it. I thought people can be cured of it if treated correctly- but now I'm freaking out! I am also afraid of getting c.diff and not being about to treat with abx anymore(been having stomach issues this week)
I am extremely panicked right now!!

Please try and calm down. Many people have put this disease into remission. There are many success storys here on lymenet.

I completed my lyme treatment 5 years ago and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life--the same life I had before lyme disease.
I do nothing to keep from relapsing. However, I do not smoke and rarely drink.
All of my friends have also gotten rid of this disease. They all had lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella like me.
So, in my experience, it is only rarely that someone dies of lyme disease. But, if you don't get good lyme treatment, you can suffer for year after year.
Many docs treat lyme, but not that many get rid of it for people. So, go to a doc who has gotten rid of it for at least 3 people that you can confirm.
The doc is the key. I can't emphasize that enough.
I and my friends went to docs who followed the Burrascano lyme treatment protocol. That's what I have seen work over and over. It is here:
Maybe the lyme or your current meds are causing this terrible anxiety. That is so awful. Do you have anything for anxiety?

I want to add that I had undiagnosed lyme and cos for 10 years before getting my diagnosis. Does that qualify as chronic lyme in your opinion?

Don't panic.
Take your probiotics and saccharomyces boulardii everyday to avoid C.diff. Even if there came a time you couldn't do abx, you can do natural treatment. Abx are one way to remission, but not everyone gets well that way. Since there is no "one cure fits all" - it is all hit and miss until you can find what works best for you anyway.
Stomach problems can be a symptom. I have had horrible stomach issues and it turned out to be H.pylori, you might want to ask your Md for an H.pylori test if your stomach keeps bothering you, it is more common than most know with Ld, but easily cured.
I am serious when I say this, I wish I didn't know as much as I do. When I studied Lyme for research (about 3 years everyday) for my website articles, I learned things I wish I had not.
There is a time to shut it off and not read anymore and I had to do that, but a little too late, I know way too much and it can be scary.
Getting upset about it won't change it, I think I panicked for the first 3 years. I am done with that, all it did was make things worse.
Like I commented in that thread a few years ago, none of us know how we are going to die, you can have Ld and get hit by a bus. So there is no sense in worrying about it.
Remission can take time. As my LLMd says, "Lyme treatment is a marathon, not a sprint". So just do what you can and try not to read too much about this if it upsets you or makes you feel hopeless.

Dear Backin, I often feel the fear associated with declining health and abilities, but also know to listen to my body and step away from the computer! There are WAY too many posts to read thru all threads, and many may not be what you need now.
For instance, the variety of prescription meds and dosing makes my eyes roll back in my head, so I've decided I don't need to learn that yet and I just skip it. (Yup, I'll be posting those questions myself soon enough, but can't take in everything at once!)
Freaking out over horror stories? Know your own remedies. Where are you most at peace? If it's the beach or alongside a babbling brook, go there. Cut out pics from magazines and hang them up in kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. Get glossy travel picture books from the library of your fav dream places. Flip thru those to "take you away" from stress. I'm sure you have other ideas. Compilation books of your fav comic strip? Your innate wisdom had you post to a support group!
Have you noticed the Success Stories thread within General section? Could be your antidote.
And breathe. (No joke, that's something I must consciously remember often.) When too upset, many people don't breathe deeply. In fear mode, we stop breathing regularly and cut ourselves off from The Divine. One of my spiritual mentors often says, "Fear is not of God." So remember to breathe. Breathe in the Life Force.
All the posts above gave great tips. Know this group is there for you. And you'll learn when it's too much. Gotta power down and go nap, rather than follow threads that are too negative for where you are on your path to good health.

it CAN be terminal, but not a lot of the time. look at all of us here.
i've had, well, i think i was born with it, and i'm 61.
i just figure the Lord knows what he's doing.
i just recently found out i had a heart condition, another health issue. i just thought, ah, well, ok....deal with it.
you're going to be fine. if you can't do abx, then go buhner, cowden, or some other.
but yep take those probiotics. i take about 5 different kinds.
and yes, i've had c. diff. don't want to go there. hope i nevere have it again.
just relax. i know it's easier said than done. but look at the bright side -- you have US....

When I first got on this site I was freaked out all the time. I didn't understand what half the words mean't. Still don't. What is c.diff?
So I went away for a while, now I'm back because I'm better able to handle it.Small Doses. A lot of things make me feel so stupid but don't give in to the axiety. Bring your questions to your Dr. or another lyme member. If it gets to be too much, go to one of your Zen places like Rem. to Smile said.
Most of all have a Dr. you truely trust. I love my llmd. He follows Dr. B. way, and has results with curing .
I just look forward to my next remission, I'm to far along to expect a cure. Lots depends on how long you have had it, co-infections,etc. Good Luck, breathe into a bag then go outside and marvel in what you have.
I must be having a peaceful day because there's times when I get on this board completely wacked. One Day at a time. Peace , Jasek

c.difficle is a very serious condition. it usually occurs in people who have taken antibiotics.
i had it in december and the doctor wanted to put me in the hospital but i declined. i went on flagyl 500 mg three times a day and florastor two each twice a day.
i think there's several of us here on the board that have have it.
just keep an eye out for your gi system.
symptoms are abdominal burning, nausea, and diahhrea 10-15 times a day, high fever. it can also cause colon rupture, megacolon. i've heard some people have to have their colon taken out to save their lives.
it's nothing to mess with. but if you take plenty of probiotics you should be fine.

Yeah iam off abxs the only reason it took so long with me is that i was infected for a long time before getting a possitives+++
8years treatment 10 years undiagnosed. had Babesia 2 strains lyme and numerous coinfections but I had been bitten over 80 times at least! and 20 or so really immbedded. Couldnt find a LLMD but when i did it was like night and day differance between llmd and regular Dr's.
It can be terminal but dosent have to be.
