I just got test results back from a specialty lab from doing a stool culture that said I had this parasite and I probably ingested it. The doctor that ordered the test said many people have it and didn't know whether or not to treat it. I asked her to treat it until I saw the treatment- 2,250 mg. of Flagyl for ten days.
I am terrified of this dose as it will probably ramp up my symptoms. Anyone else know anything about this?

I picked it up while on a mission trip (before I had Lyme). If I remember correctly, it was treated with Flagyl. I did not have any problems or side effects from the treatment.
It is a pretty common parasite. Easy to pick up especially if you travel outside of the USA. Can be found in the water. Infected people can pass it on through improper hand washing and food preparation.
If you think about it though, many people that cook in restaurants here are from foreign countries. So you don't necessarily have to travel to pick up exotic parasites and germs.

I think that's kind of a nasty one. I had it and it really brought out my Lyme and made an h. pylorii ulcer much worse.
My impresssion is that it's related to amoebas and that some of the parasitic amoebas can screw with your liver, so I had no problem deciding to bomb myself with Flagyl at the time, even though I was deathly afraid of Flagyl for various reasons.
Also, echoing what sammy just said- I definitely didnt pick it up 'in another country' myself- a bunch of my friends came back from Mexico, we had a few potluck dinners together, and several people who weren't the travelers themselves soon came down with intestinal bugs. It must have been a hand-washing issue on someone's behalf. I don't even know if b. hominis is what everyone else had- I'm the only one who tested and got antibiotics as opposed to other people self-treating with other things.

Yes, it needs to be treated! There are herbal protocols for parasites, too, but you have to take several formulas at once, and GOOD ones for two months, usually. Otherwise, the meds.

That can be a reason your liver numbers were up not long ago especially that you're not on antibiotics.

Google Hulda Clark, She speaks about this parasite and that it is the cause of diabetes. Don't know if that's true, but she has a lot of good info on parasites.
She also has some very strong herbs which I am currently taking for parasites that are working well.
However, when attacking parasites with herbs it has to be over an extended period of time. Don't let this go, because you probably have other parasites/worms lurking in the G. I. track.

I had it and was very sick- like diarrea 20 times a day. I treated 10 days with flagyl and it did nothing.
I did the treatment protocol from Australia via the woman who started the Badbugs site.
I thought I was going to die I was so sick on those meds.
My diarrhea went away though.
I guess you should consider if you're symptomatic or not. It may be hard to differentiate from the lyme. Supposedly many people have b. hominis and are not symptomatic.
Supposedly the natural stuff doesn't touch it either.

I used some "not-generally-available-to-the-general-public" antiparasitic herbs and a lot of Grapefruit Seed Extract (which supposedly works on amoebas) to try and treat it before I resorted to the antibiotics, and yeah, they didn't work on it at all.

I too tested positive for blasto. My previous llmd started treatment which I did for about 4-6 weeks. Switched to another llmd who didn't think it was worth treating since I wasn't have symptoms, so stopped and have had no problems associated with blasto.
Probably affects different people differently since some seem to get so sick from it.
