Newly diagnosed and was put on a protocol of 1000 in the morning and 1000 at night of Ceftin. I have seen posts that seem to suggest a smaller dose...any thought?

Dr B is said to have taken 2,000 mg of ceftin twice a day during his own treatment. Your situation may vary but that higher dose may be better if your LLMD feels you can handle it in terms of your labs, overall health, etc.

Thanks all I figure the higher I can tolerate the better so bring it on...I think... Cityroam that is what I am on. This is my first line of treatment. I started on Wednesday also. Feeling like I was hit by a bus!

I have had 3 different abx so far and each has given me a different reaction. But so far as pain goes, Ceftin has been the worst. Friday I was in so much pain I couldnt drive my son to school. My muscles felt like lead and I had sharp stabbing pains everywhere. My hands were going numb in the middle of the night.
So far today the pain has calmed down a little. I can't take any sort of pain meds except advil everything gives me weird reaction and makes me worse.
I know how you feel tjckelley, right there with you!

I took 1000mg twice a day too and got decent results from it but when I went to 1000mg three times a day, I really herxed badly.
BTW, Burrascanno recommends 1000mg twice a day as a starting point but I expect he took 3000mg daily for himself.

It probably was 3,000 mg as WildCondor always recommends 3,000 mg of ceftin with 2,000 mg of Biaxin with Bicillin and one other Abx.
