I have been taking 750mg of flagyl for over a month now along with other abx and I have never herxed. It has only made me feel a little better.

Does this mean my main symptoms are co-infection related?

Wow lucky you flagyl was the abx from hell for me.
I'm by no means a medical expert but it would seem to point to a co-infection to me.
I'm saying that also not knowing what all you took prior to Flagyl.

Dr. M. a world renowned Lyme expert, now retired from BC recommends between 750 and 1000 mg per day depending on weight. So it sounds like your dosing is bang on.

I never herx either...added oral flagyl 1000mg/day and did have some increased muscle twitching/mild headache. I should not complain because I sympathize with those who herx severly. I need to go infuse my zith and rocephin and hit it hard. Maybe we dont have a high cyst load? Hopefully

LOL. 750mg 4x a day??? That sounds crazy. Can anyone honestly tell me they are taking that??

Kimmie: That very well could be since I only had LD for 3 months before treating.

BackinStOlaf: I think I agree with your doc. Its not doing much for me. I think because my main issue is a co infection im not dealing with.

Thanks for the input!! <3

Actually if you don't herx but instead feel better I think that is very encouraging, just as much an obvious herx. Some people don't herx and simply get better.

Metronidazole and Tinidazole aren't anti-inflammatory like some of the other antibiotics. There is no reason it would make you feel better unless it was killing Lyme (doesn't hit any co-infections either).

I hope you all are right. This disease is so tricky and effects everyone differently. I'm sure just like everyone else, I want to hit it hard and get into remission.

Dania84...I started treatment at 4 months. I heard adding a cyst buster early on is good. And although I was "disseminated" 4 months is early considering some of the people I have spoken with. When I got sick, I got VERY sick fast...

I took 750 mg 4x per day on Flagyl pulse (with 3 other antibiotics) under Dr. B and that is how I got well. Most of the doses I'm seeing on here seem very low which is likely why it is not working (herxing).

wildcondor, did you take the Flagyl daily? When you said pulse, exactly what do you mean? And for how long did you do this?

Thanks so much.

Perhaps I spoke too fast...flagyl kicked my butt last month and it took 2 weeks to recover from, but I think it did some good. Did 1500mg every Sat and Sun, along with rocephin and zith. THis stuff is really hard to kill...
