Read this
http://chronicsorethroat.wordpress.com/

Details on this site about symptoms and how the Chronic sore Throat can and does lead to many viral infections and they way they lead you down the path then all the other infections are given the opportunity when your immune system is down to attack and gain ground. I do not care what came first but this is how I got sick. Months of Strep throat and sore throats constant and severe.
Then things added up and started like they write here.!! Then Lyme and co infections and actually a few of each of viral parasitic bacterial and fungal.

The Chronic Sore Throat is where it all started. I never heard or read about this before but always told my doctor when they ask that same question (how did it all start).?

There is an infectious respiratory virus currently going around which usually causes the following symptoms (you may not have all of them):-

EARLY SYMPTOMS (first few weeks):-

✔ Chronic Sore Throat that never fully heals (but some don't get this).
✔ Constant Stuffy / Congested Nose with unusually thick mucus.

ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS (appear after a few months):-

✔ Depression and low mood.
✔ Generalized Anxiety Disorder - anxiety which can get VERY extreme.
✔ Powerful Psychological Changes and cognition disruptions.
✔ Loss of Desires and sense of pleasure (anhedonia); loss of libido.
✔ Social Withdrawal - escaping social activities more and more.
✔ Loss of Drive and motivation (athymhormia).
✔ Memory Problems, both short-term and long-term recall.
✔ Unusual Sleepiness and a tendency to fall asleep more.
✔ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - notable loss of energy.
✔ Stomach Ache and Pains, with stomach / bowel rumbling.
✔ Pins and Needles (persistent paresthesia), especially in the legs.
✔ Receding Gums and a sudden onset of periodontal disease.

LATER SYMPTOMS (appear at approximately 12 to 18 months):-

✔ Slight Wrinkling of the Skin with unusual, fine-textured wrinkles.
✔ Weak Legs and hips: legs and hip girdle feel loose.
✔ Loose Joints, as if the ligaments are becoming weak.
✔ Subtle Loss of Hearing Acuity in identifying sounds.
✔ Progressive Hearing Loss in elderly, sometimes only in one ear.
✔ Less Frequently: tinnitus; blurred vision; joint pains.
✔ Occasionally: viral meningitis, chronic systemic inflammation, pericarditis, myocarditis, sudden heart attack in the previously healthy.

This site tells you how to Test for the various Viruses including :
Coxsackie B1 virus, Enterovirus, Epstien Barr, ParvoVirus, HHV 6, Human Parainfluenza Virus 5, Neurovirulent Influenza A, Varicella zoster virus, Borna disease virus, Cytomegalovirus, XMRV virus, ``Fear of AIDS Disease'' virus or the ``Mystery HIV-Like Disease``. And Others

BACTERIAL CAUSES OF CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

Bacteria such as Chlamydia pneumoniae and Coxiella burnetii (which causes Q fever) are responsible for some cases of chronic fatigue syndrome. These can be treated with antibiotics. The incubation period of Chlamydia pneumoniae is around 3 to 4 weeks; the incubation period of Coxiella burnetii 2 to 3 weeks; these incubation periods are too slow to be my pathogen, which has a much faster incubation period of 24 hours or less.

Staphylococcus bacteria have been implicated in the etiology of chronic fatigue syndrome, and continuously treating CFS patients with staphylococcus toxoid vaccine has brought considerable clinical improvement.

Brucella bacteria may also cause to chronic fatigue syndrome.

OTHER CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME CAUSES

Toxoplasma (a parasite found in cat feces) has been know to cause pronged fatigue. Exposure to organophosphate pesticides has been implicated as a causal or contributory factor in CFS.

And MORE info if you read the article.
Very informative.

I got a very bad sore throat (glands the size of golf balls) after an endoscopic ultrasound. This was before I knew I had Lyme. I probably didn't even need the procedure.

I knew I had gotten an infection from the procedure because of a very high WBC and other symptoms. The sore throat never really went way. My doctor checked for Strep but only by a culture of the throat. When I was tested for Lyme (much later) the doc also checked my blood for Strep. I had very high Strep titers.

This is why I always relate my sore throat to my strep in the blood. It gets better with treatment of certain abx.

Most doctors don't check for Strep in the blood they only do a culture of the throat.

Need lots help - Have they tested your blood for Strep?

No, matter of fact, I don't think they ever have. I never knew that you could check the blood...

I had the Streptozyme Titer, group A. The results 1:800. Normal is <100.

There are other blood tests for Strep that I don't think will show as much. I have also had the Anti-DNase B antibodies which was slightly abnormal for an adult.

I'm just getting over a bout with a sore throat within treatment too. It comes and go like every other day bad then ok.

I used to always get the red bumps and sore throats with PMS......before I know I had this. I would get tested for Strep, but always neg. I have thought of it as a herx when looking back at each month and now....

Interesting!

I know there are some parents on here that have heard of P.A.N.D.A.S.

Please be aware that there is also ANDAS. It's the same as PANDAS but adult onset.

You may not test positive on any of the strep tests if you were on abx during testing.

I'm with you on the chronic strep! I had my tonsils/adnoids removed when I was 7, but every year after, I still had sore throats, colds/flus repeatedly...My LLMD is looking into strep as well to see if we need to add to the arsenal against all the little bugs inside me!
