For those of you doing IV therapy does your insurance pay for it?
I was talking with my neighbor and she said since I am not responding to 5 weeks on oral antibiotics (200 Mgs Doxy and 1000 Mgs Ceftin) then I probably need IV therapy.
Her son did it and she paid $180 per day!
With 3 kids there is no way we can afford that!
I did call insurance but they were not giving me direct answers. Very vague on it. Said they need the code.
Just getting nervous that I am going to need it since I've had some of these symptoms for a very long time and didn't realize they were Lyme symptoms.
I have 1 more week left on the Ceftin. Maybe some miracle will happen!

Orals will work to but take more time.your dose of doxy is very low it should be 400-600mg a day for doxy.

Another thing you can do if insurance does not pay is to bay Bicillin injections in Mexico and take IM 1.2 milion units three times a week.That is just 2 % les effective than Rocephin IV.Bicillin is very cheep in Mexico or Europe and you can do it by your self. Take care.

My insurance does not pay for IV therapy. You will have to find out what and how much your individual insurance plan will cover. Your insurance may pay for Bicillin LA through your prescription plan. It would be cheaper and easier than IV. I would give that a try first.
If I remember correctly you can get a month's worth of Rocephin and supplies for $600-700 per month through Infuserve. I'm currently on other IV meds. Some cost more or less. It is best to call and talk with Infuserve when the time comes. They can give you an accurate price quote based on your doctor's RX.

We found a specialty pharmacy through Costco (I don't think they are actually affiliated with Costco, though) called Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy. They charged $84.00 for 21 vials, which works out to $112.00 for 28 vials. Their phone # is 877-977-9118, and fax is 800-550-9118. You would need to have your MD fax the RX to them directly, but they would explain everything over the phone to you. It is mailed to your house and comes in 1 to 2 days.
We were shocked to find someone so inexpensive, as we had been spending astronomical prices, even with me being on medicare, since when I would hit the "donut hole" I would have to pay full price. Now with this pharmacy, they are cheaper than even the best price that I could get with Medicare.
As far as supplies go, we use other sources.
