Hello there, First I wanted to thank the members who tried to find a Lyme literate Dr. in Florida for me. So thank you for your efforts
However, Dr. C in Tampa is quite impossible to see, he requests a physician to treat you under his protocols (no Florida physician is willing do so such. "He will not see you as a patient unless you have a Dr. who will sign a release for his treatment protocol, before they know what it even is".
I have called every local Hospital from Pasco County through Hillsborough County, contacted University Hospitals, and have been seen by other physicians in the past 4 months, none of whom will follow Dr. C's guidelines, nor sign a paper stating such so I can see him. They've never heard of such a thing as a Dr. not treating his own patients.
I have begged his staff to please let me know of any Dr.s in Florida who have been using his treatment protocols under his supervision, they will not. They state it's not for them to do, and they do not have the time for such to help people with their issues. I also told them I live only 30 minutes from Dr. C why should I need another physician. "They've even stated that this is your problem not ours". His staff is the most imcompassionate people one could imagine.
As well I was recently told by his staff that the physicians treating patients under Dr. C's protocols are always changing. When I asked what happens to the patient when the other physician changes and no longer works with Dr. C, they stated the patients treatment stops! Then I was told to please stop calling until I find a dr. who will follow his guidelines.
Should you not believe me, call Dr. C's office to verify. I am glad that some of you have found help through this Dr C. Though I truly cannot fathom how under his strict protocols.
Might I ask if anyone who lives in the Tampa area or even surrounding counties whom they use as their general physician who follows Dr. C's protocols, as I am about to throw in the towel on this Dr. and this illness. Feel like just giving up in Florida! ~With Gods Blessings upon us all~

Consider yourself lucky not to get in....save yourself some hassles! I did his dance (at least partly) a year ago. I know some like him, but not me and his staff is the pits!
Find someone else, and for the record, they do have a list..........but get this, the dr they referred me to wouldn't touch his protocol. I ran into the same thing. Personally I found him to be OVERKILL!
Keep looking! Sorry........

I have had NO problem with Dr. C. Yes, I too had to have a primary sign off, but I also do not live close. Mainly that is for IV therapy. If you have issues with PICC line, much better to have Dr. close by for help.
My primary left this area, I was left without a primary for about 6 months. Dr. C continued to see me during that time with NO issues. I was not on IV at that time. Also at that time, he did have his staff give me some names of primaries on my area that other patients of his used. But, they were not taking new patients so I was SOL.
If you would like the name of the primary, I would be happy to PM it to you. Warning, it is about 3-4 hrs away from Tampa. He works closely with Dr. C and has no issues with his protocols.
I am sorry you found his protocol overkill, he closely follows Dr. B's guidlines, is very inexpensive compared to others and overworked due to lack of LLMD's here in Florida. I personally would and do take his protocols as the alternative of no treatment is worse!

The whole rigamarole about your primary care doctor is just that.
It took me about a year to find one who would go along with Dr. C's treatment, or treatment warnings as they've been put on paper. That "seeking" process was harder than the last year of treatment has been.
As it turns out, my primary is a longer drive for me than Dr. C's office. And she is very lukewarm about the antibiotics. But if you can just get a doctor to BE your primary doctor, and sign the papers, you do have Dr. C to treat you.
My primary hasn't done anything in this process except judge me for this decision, as she thinks everything can be fixed with supplements and vitamins.
I'm not that crazy about her. She is in Ocala.
And seeing as you live closer to Dr. C's office than I do, you wouldn't have that much trouble getting there.
It would sure be nice if there were more doctors who would treat Lyme Disease, but there's not.
The staff is mostly nice, but there is one woman who answers the phone who is an absolute dragon. She's only there during lunch breaks, so I never call then.
Even though I'm not well, I would still do the antibiotic treatment I've been doing. I am supposed to start treatment for Babesia, but I need to find a gynocologist to help with a chronic yeast problem, and I'm afraid to have to explain to another doctor why I've had to take so many ABX. So I'm stalling.
I really like Dr. C. He's always been very patient and sympathetic to me. That's not to say that I haven't been angry and frustrated with him and with the office staff, but compared to other doctors and offices, it's not been that hard.
I wish I could help you more, because I know what you're going through. I don't understand why the office has to be so mean about helping find agreable doctors. It's a huge brick wall. But once you get over it, you can start to work on your recovery.
Good luck!
