Does anyone have the article that was at one time pasted up here about Micheal J. Fox? It was in Time magazine or Newsweek? It was before he got Parkinsons and had been recently bitten by a tick and was complaining of sick he had become. I was wondering if he had never been properly tested or treated for Lyme, maybe he has that instead of Parkinsons. I have thought about this alot. He might have Lyme and could have some recovery possibly... Let me know if anyone finds the article.......Thannks daniella

I've thought the same thing about Michael J. Fox, but haven't read the article you are referring to. I'll try to track it down!

A friend contacted me about this quite a while ago, at least nine months or so ago, and told us the MJF had lyme not parkinsons. My husband did do a search, sorry, don't remember where he found it. But, what he found was that at first MJF told everyone he had lyme because he was in denial about the parkinsons. The article was went on to mention how grateful people w/parkinsons were that he finally admited to actually having parkinsons. We were very excited when we thought he may have lyme. We need someone really famous to go through all of this, then maybe things would change. But, it wasn't to be, not this time. Sometimes Parkinsons is really just parkinsons.

What about David Letterman and Richard Gere? I heard quite a while back lyme mentioned with those two.
How come if famous people have financial means they're not exploring lyme, going to an LLMD, or at least doing a WB though Igenex? You'd think they'd explore several options before accepting the diagnosis they were given.
There I go, thinking again!
Lymetoo your right...don't you agree MJF has gotten over his lyme? Remember 30 days of abx and your cured. Un hunh...if that were the case there wouldn't be a need for lymenet.

I looked for the article but I can't find it..... I don't think it's a coincidence that he had lyme and then his "health has gone downhill eversince". His own words, in that article! If I could find it and send it to him with letters from all of us to get retested and treated just to test for a cure. You know do abx to see if it is lyme, see if you herx, feel better. Can't hurt right? Especially when you're already that sick.. Sent- Who is DanQ? Anyway I really think he needs to pursue this avenue. I know it could only be parkinsons but I'm NOT a firm believer in coincidences anymore!
ps. I already had letters ready for months to send him. I wouldn't even know where to send them. ....And they are fruitless without that article that will remind him when it all started!

I just finished MJF's book, "Lucky Man" - the Parkinson's disease treatments do take care of his tremors...I can't remember what it is he takes...wonder if it works with lyme patients too...As well, he talks about spending a lot of time on Martha's Vineyard I think or was it Cape Cod...one of the islands that is crawling with lyme and coinfections...But he also drinks Diet Pepsi like it is water and the artificial sweetners in that stuff have been implicated in initiating a cascade of chemical changes in the brain...very interesting though....

But the way the NIH's budgetary pie is sliced may be changed by the presence of Doc Hollywood: Michael J. Fox. For eight years, Fox -- who jump-started his career in the "Back to the Future" movies and currently stars in the ABC sitcom "Spin City" -- hid his Parkinson's disease from the public, passing off the tremors as Lyme disease or fatigue. When he finally came out, sufferers of Parkinson's breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe with a star on board, they could get the notice they needed to help increase the funding for treatment and research.

treepatrol-thanks for the very informative articles! Wow! the one from "find an article" is really really interesting.
Lymetoo- Yes I probably agree that is the case. Noone around him is lyme litterate.
lymesux-(nice name) that article is to the point. Do you think even if he found out it was lyme at this ppoint do you think he would admit it after all the parkinsons funding? Maybe...
Anyone ever try that TAO cat's claw in the article by treepatrol? Any luck finding his article? I will keep searching....

Dear Lymesux,
You are an angel sent from heaven. If that article does not convince my family I have lyme (and that lyme actually exists)--nothing will. I emailed it to everyone and I can be at peace with myself that if they don't believe that wonderfully well written informative piece--nothing I say is going to change their minds.
Truly, you have lifted a burden from me and I thank you,
God bless, L

did this go thru as a link? I'm not sure. Wait I'm going to copy the article. Pretty interesting. Not what I'm looking for yet but still interesting. Here it is from Health Boards.com....
Did you know that Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with lyme disease three years before being diagnosed with Parkinson? Did you know that 4 workers on his movie set were also diagnosed with Parkinson? The movie set was in Conn. - lyme country. My brother in law was diagnosed 20 years ago with Parkinson, 10 years before that he was bitten by a tick while camping. He is starting his research on the correlation between the two! My husband was diagnosed with bipolar, dementia, degeneration of the brain, parkinson, etc. etc. Four months ago he was finally tested for lyme disease tests were positive including spect scan. He has been on antibotics for four months now and doing quite well. Each month he gets better and better. I had to fight tooth and nail for a Doctor to listen to me to no avail. Finally, I took him to see a Lyme Literate Doctor and the rest is history. Just wanted you to know and to take your conditions into your own hands, the Dr.s don't know everything. We are living proof of that. Best Wishes.

Firends who worked for Michael J. Fox told me he had Lyme Disease many years before he got Parkinsons. He got it probably on his farm in Conn. He was treated for Lyme. I am nolonger in contact with these people. He did lots of alternative meds so he should know the connection!

I've totally lost contact with these people and doubt they work for him anymore. As he knew he had Lyme and had it reated many ways, He most probably does not see the connection. And, perhaps, there isn't a connection in his case. Who knows.

Just found this. I had saved it in one of my folders. Don't really know the source of it. [sorry] -------------------------------------------
"Dr Katrina Tang at Sierra Integrative has had some astounding remediation of MS with their lyme tx. What isn't widely known too, is the frequent correlation of mis-dx'd lyme and Parkinsons. One of the most sad for me is Michael J Fox. As you know he has been forced to retire from his very successful career due to advancing "Parkinsons". Remember he started a Parkinsons Foundation and appeared before Congress, etc? Well, the sad truth is - its nearly certainly under-treated lyme! (3 weeks abx) I have some contacts in the entertainment industry and am trying to get a line into him. Wish me luck."

I went to Tang's clinic. No one there when I was there got well. Me neither.

Here is a post from some time ago, where Melissa posted a list of celebrities who have/had Lyme. Ann - OH
For some reason I remembered that Seattle "The Real World" on MTV had a gal with LD so I went looking to see what had happened to her. In anycase, ran across this while I was doing that. Don't know why, but it made me feel better to know this many people in the public eye have had to deal with this too. So I thought I'd share the list. If nothing else it might be useful to those of you doing political stuff for LD.
