Thanks, Lyddie, for putting it so eloquently.
Yes, my daughter and husband are home now,
and she had an excellent time. I feel we
made the right decision for all involved.

Some of us, as Lyddie knows, have other issues complicating our lyme treatment. I
personally could not let my daughter follow
in my footsteps. She is not really one who
loves to commune with nature. She is a diva, interested in fashion, arts, etc.

I think it was more a pre-teenager experience
she thought she wanted to try out. But, too
much at risk for us in our situation.

I allowed my son (and daughter) to go to
Plymouth Plantation--where chaperones did
tick checks, but this was a one day event
and not a sleep-over in the woods.

My own personal experiences with nature in
the past had been positive, and I lived as
though nature was benign. When I was first
treated for lyme disease in 2002, I went
to a local park, and did the white pants, hair up, tick check....but later in the day,
sure enough, a nymph was attached to the
back of my arm...didn't see that one.

I am more cautious now that I have seizures
and autoimmunity issues. It seems prudent
in my case to excercise caution after thousands of dollars in care, and plenty of
crises to deal with.

I think everyone has an opinion and it was
good to share it. I just had to follow my
gut instincts. I just needed to think out loud.
