I've been living in south florida for 8 years, I've yet to find a support group.

Most anything I've seen in the state is a 5+ hour drive, hahaha, not happening!

So my question is this: How many of you are out there? And are any willing to help get a group of some sort together.

I've run a small support group before but not in about 10 years, so am fairly out of the loop. I'm willing to give it another shot, if there's any interest.

I am in southern Palm Beach county. Thanks for any replies and or advice.

(Please note I am quite lyme-brained atm and hope this made sense.)

Hi TrueBlue, I'm in central Fla. so I'm not much help. Just wanted to say hope you find some support down in S. Fla. and glad you have the support here. So far online is the only support groups I have(CFS and this wonderful place) Good luck from one fuzzy brain to another. Blessings Earthmama

Last I knew, [email protected] was from FL and may be able to help you. She's intermittently ill so she may not be immediately available.

Thanks brainless,
I'll check it out.

It looks like the support group is in central florida if that'd help you out earthmama.

I had tried an arthritis group and fibromyalgia group in the past. Neither are a particularly good fit.

I moved here from a place where you had a choice which group you felt like going to. I went to my first when I only suspected lyme. They were instrumental in getting me on track and made sure I knew how to advocate for myself.

Later on aI went to a smaller group that was meeting near my home and the leader passed away from untreated lyme. (she was working so hard to insure proper treatment for her daughter she didn't get herself treated.) She was in her early 40s and had a massive heart attack in her sleep.

Another woman and myself thought her group should go on as a tribute and so we took over. It was predominantly newly diagnosed people looking for information and advice.

Hi, I am in SW Fla. and not any help to you either, but I support your endeavors.

The nearest support group for me from what I understand is in Tampa, which is over 2 hours away. There are days I can't even get 2 minutes away.

We are fairly new here, and it's certainly not a Lyme literate area. Best of luck to you.

lmh ~ I know just what you mean. Everything's very far here.

It takes most of a week to recover from a trip to the doctor and that's only an hour each way.

Thanks for replying, though. It's a very non-lyme literate area. I'm lucky that I found an LLMD period, it was one of my worst fears when moving here.
