Well heck! I decided to retrieve my very old thread [dated January 2002!] and bring it back up. Unfortunately, it died!
SOOOO....could we start all over? Alot of newbies here need to tell us how they got their names! Oldies may join in too!
Here's how the old thread began:
"OK, my curiosity is taking over....would you please tell us how you chose your screen name? Some are obvious [like Lymetoo...duh!] others are just downright interesting...so if you'd like to share, tell us about your name!"

I love this idea, Lymetoo, because as someone new, I've found myself imagining people as I read their posts.
In almost every case of generic kinds of names, I have ultimately ended up thinking the member was a different sex. Too funny...
My name's obvious. It's not my "real" name but it's a nickname even my friends use.

Mine is pretty boring. It's my nickname--a combo of my first name and last initial of my maiden name. I was called K.O. before I married, and my husband just begin to call me karieo. So once in a while, I use it, in his honor.

Why do you want people to post on the end of the old post? This new one is fine and the new people can post here and meet each other easier.

Well, I'll repost from the old post since people are still using this post. Phew!
When I was a child, I was severely abused in a crime ring. (My father and other paternal relatives were involved.) Years later, I began a long and arduous healing journey. I think of my true self, my hearty spirit, as the Phoenix, rising from the ashes. I have had negative associations with stars due to an abusive experience. I decided to reclaim "Star," as I think stars are beautiful. I put them together for Starphoenix. To me, this is who I am, really. Steph

Hey Lymetoo.. do you remembr me? it has been a while I was in PA but just moved to FL... Many issues and I choose my screenname bc... I feel that I have been livin with lyme for many years and it remained a puzzle as to why my health was deteriorating and no MD (quack quack) (and only by mistake was a test run and found positive (imagine that I had a ELISA come back positive!!!)) could find an answer as to why .. I know why now. I am living proof that LD is a forever battle unless you stay on treatment and even then there is still little quality to life.. There needs to be a cure for this and fast!

I chose my name because it's the name of a state park right next to where I live; Pinchot Park in PA, south of Harrisburg. No doubt home to Borris and Myrtle Burgdorferi and their bazillion offspring (where is Thomas Parmkman??)...... Lots of people know it's also near Ski Roundtop as well + my first name.
And this has nothing to do with my name but I love horses, sheep and dogs.....Here's 2 of mine Pippin & Frodo

Weird like you said...the original post from 2002 wont come up! Too sad! It is sort of a living testament to the fact that many have come and gotten better and are GONE now.
Anyhow ---->> up for more replies!
I was in a tight spot and didnt want to use my real name when someone asked it and I glanced at my backpack which was made by "Trials End" and said "people call me trails." I lied, but it worked.
Several years later I started using it as my screen name. And I miss hiking very dearly.

It wont let me pull up the old thread. I get some error message about being too new or being banned.
Anyway. I came up with my name after numerous ducks couldnt figure out what was wrong with me.
I knew i could not give up yet. Hence my name

This is a really nice thread where we can learn a little more about each other.
Andie, I had to laugh and agree with you when you mentioned that you get mixed up on the gender of some of the screenname. I too feel the same way sometimes.
As for me being "Moose", when I signed up to participate on this LymeFlash, I was required to come up with a name...ugh! My lyme brain was not too thrilled!
I didn't want to use the same screenname that I use for my email accounts which has been stuck with me for years.
Plus I had just finished chatting with my dad on IM who greeted me as "Hey Moose, what are you doing here?" My dad is probably the only one who calls me that, and being so lyme-brained I decided to use it. LOL!
Seriously, I love playing & working outdoors! Before I became too sick I worked as a recreation facilitator and have been very involved in hiking, backpacking, rockclimbing, canoeing, camping, orienteering, caving, initatives, high ropes course, disc golf, etc.
I also used to lead groups up in the Boundary Waters and I miss it badly! There is no place as beautiful and serene as the Great North, and of course, it's famous for MOOSE!

I love to hike. Every summer I would pick a different state and find a waterfall to hike to. Hence "Hiker" 53 is the number on the baseball cap I wore as a kid. I was (and still am) a sports fanatic.

Moose~ I beg to differ with you, but the Grand Canyon is equal to (or maybe better) than the Great North and the Boundary Waters. (Of course I haven't BEEN to the Great North or the Boudary Waters, but I can still say that the Canyon is better!)
I hope you'll be back leading your groups soon, and I'll be back to leading mine. Should you ever hike in the Canyon, know that the rock layers can be remembered in this simple rhyme: Know The Canyon's History, Study Rocks Made By Time.
Or for the more mature audience: Kissing Takes Concentration, However, Some Require More Breath and Tongue.
My screen name is simple: Timaca is a compilation of the first two letters of my first, middle and last name. Kinda boring, but it works.

Nice to see people like hiking and outdoors! I just recently realised that I am sick and that all my favourite activities, hiking, climbing, skiing, scooba-diving, biking, has both kept me going and most likely also bugged my lymebugs a bit too much. Ouch!
Oh, my screen name; Siggy, is just cause Sigrid is hard to pronounce in english and doesnt sound like anything either. I usually would use Sig in norway, but again being on an english board it would make people think I smoked. And I dont.
What else? Oh yes, it is also what my friends call me, Sig or siggy just to show a sort of friendliness I guess. But, for some strange reason, they also occasionally add piggy; siggy-piggy. But again, it sounds a bit weird. Posts: 155 | From Norway | Registered: Jan 2006

I had been reading on this board for a long time and was very impressed with the funny or inventive screen names that most of the people have here.
Therefore, I wanted to come up with a very original name also, before I would post for the first time. Unfortunately, my brain fog was as thick as pea soup for such a long time that I feared I would never be able to post if I kept waiting for a genial inspiration.
So I finally decided to use my real name - Gabriele. But all the Americans that I know pronounce it Gabrielle and my hubby, who is French, also calls me the French way - Gabrielle.
Now, that my brain is working again, I found some very good names which I'm using on other boards.
Gabrielle

My first initial is P, and my Other Half turned that into Sweet Pea. After he started calling me that, I have noticed that people call their babies and small children Sweet Pea, so I feel kind of silly as I am almost 40.

I gave myself this username 5 1/2 years ago after witnessing the birth of my grandson. At that time I was quite healthy and very happy.
Since then 3 more little sweeties have let me be their Granny.
Since then my health has gone down hill fast.
I am still happy to be a Granny, but very sad that I can't play with them the way I want to.

I'll join the boring crowd too: Bettyg. Due to my recent HERX/health scare on 2-9-06, I have now shown my full name and city on my signature line.
A lot of you went to a lot of trouble trying to find me & have our local police come to my home to check up on me; see my post, I'M OK, POLICE just stopped to check on my health.
You folks knew my given first name and state; that's all but were determined to reach me.
Ann-Ohio called Troutscout in Iowa who had met met the year earlier at a lyme meeting with state legislators, and I had been corresponding privately w/Trout. So he knew my last name, address, and phone no.
So I'm not taking any chances; if I have another health scare & on the internet..WE HAVE ONE PHONE LINE ONLY, someone can contact our Ames police dept. again to check up on me.

It's an easy answer. There were three of us all treating Lyme at the same time - Spouse, Son and Self. Now it's just me needs help. No longer have the Spouse (thank God for removing an alcoholic from my life) and Son benefited greatly from his treatment. If I could, I'd change my screen name. But...then I'd have to start all over. Many know me as Galsal or just Sal. My real name IS Sally btw.
